Why would you pull early though? Yeah, it's not against the ToS but it's a terrible scapegoat when you know it's rude as all hell. Firstly, everyone put their time into hunting, not just you. You got lucky and found one or got to one early. It's not right to cheat other people out of their time just because you want to be the special snow-flake hunter and hide behind the ToS.
Don't blame LSes if they don't want to be associated with early pullers who don't consider other people. :/
There's no way to argue with the "me first" people on this board... they simply don't understand how hypocritical they're being.
As I've said before, I'm just very glad I got all the seals I actually needed before the most recent patch. Now that more of the snowflakes are hunting, I'm seeing a lot more venom/frustration despite smaller overall crowd sizes. It's a shame, because IMMEDIATELY after the patch, when it was just smaller crowd sizes without the snowflakes, the hunts were probably the nicest they've ever been.
I did a little bit of hunting this weekend, though, and I'd never see so many extremely fast pulls in so little time.

They named them Hunts, not Cooperations. It's a hunt. You hunt for the target, and if you find it, by right you get to kill it. That's how a hunt works. That's what makes it competitive. And it's what could make them fun, except for all the crybabies. It works just as designed - even if people like you want to whine and get pissed off about its intended function.
Everyone puts their time into hunting? No, only some of those people do, many of them just sit around doing other things and zerg rush off when something is found. And like the person before you said, they are MEANT to be competitive. You can union it up all you want, but being so large that you feel that people should have to join the union to participate, is wrong. That's what's happening. You're basically telling people that want to play the content as it was intended, that they're not allowed to play the content unless they join your group(s).Why would you pull early though? Not everyone likes the zerg, and since it's a player made thing, they should NOT be forced to go along with it to participate, which is how many are making it out to be.
The history of human civilization disagrees with you, as do most wolves. They named them Hunts, not Cooperations. It's a hunt. You hunt for the target, and if you find it, by right you get to kill it. That's how a hunt works.
The purpose of cooperating while hunting is to make things easier. Waiting for too many people makes things harder (like the mark completely disappearing on some people, which wasn't changed for A ranks for some reason).
The A & S - rank hunts are a huge magnet for rude pricks who expect everyone else on the server to be just as obsessive over them as they are. B-ranks USED to be the same until SE finally fixed it.
Even worse, they who also expect everyone to know all the tricks for spawning S-rank marks and abuse anyone who messes it up, even if by accident.
For example: Last Thursday, I was in N. Thanalan waiting for Red Baron to spawn, when the Core Blimey FATE came up, which I joined. Because I was busy paying attention to the fight (I was a squishy BLM) while on Skype with my one LS, and my multitasking abilities are limited, I missed people shouting to not turn in any of the cores.
When I finished, they started hurling abuse at me, because apparently deliberately failing the FATE causes the S-rank to spawn. I explained my side, and told the ones who continued to be rude to sod off. I ALMOST felt bad about the whole situation, but their rude behavior killed any sympathy I had for them.
Balmung has been mentioned a few times. I don't participate in any hunts that i don't trip over. That being said when you spend awhile gathering in a zone you get some wonderful chat and some free time to type.
One of the bigger linkshells on our server has taken into yelling out peoples names in chat who don't abide by their rules. To try to shame and bully people. I am not sure if they also take this time to belittle them in tells. We are not allowed tells in dungeon for the reason of player harassment. If you wish to put someone on a list and not play with them great. We all probably have a couple people we don't like to play with. GM's need to start handing out suspensions for open harassment.
It has calm downed a bit since B ranks are useless. But I can still see the odd time where i time for my amusement 4 mins of shouts "Wait Wait" followed by 60 people running by the spot I am gathering at. This is not the picture they are presenting.
I agree. There are early pullers AND members of hunt groups who really make the situation toxic for everyone. The A & S - rank hunts are a huge magnet for rude pricks who expect everyone else on the server to be just as obsessive over them as they are.
I'm torn on this. However, just as there's technically nothing wrong with pulling early, I also see nothing wrong with a simple message such as, "Pulled by Thayos." When I'm hunting, I like to know who early pullers are so that I don't group with them in future hunts... I don't want them abusing my linkshell's hunt intel for their own personal gain at the expense of my group. That said, I'd never proceed to then shout at/scorn/shame those people. I definitely think that is taking it too far.One of the bigger linkshells on our server has taken into yelling out peoples names in chat who don't abide by their rules.
