How is an art book really any different to the soundtracks?

If they were attaching minions to keyrings, I'd be annoyed, but the soundtracks and art books are both things which go into making the game.

Yeah but an art book you'll probably look at once then put away somewhere to keep it in good condition. At least, that's what I would do. A soundtrack you can listen to essentially anywhere at any time.

That, and that they're now attaching minions to more expensive, and exclusive products is bothersome. It's teetering on cash shop level now, what else are they going to attach minions and mounts to that they want us to pay even more money for?

An art book is still a very nice collectors item though.

To be honest it was on cash shop level when they let people upgrade their edition digitally almost solely to get the CE mount and minion. As long as they don't start attaching minions to fluff such as key rings and plushies, I'm fine with it. Unless it's those Hildibrand Cookies I remember seeing, they can throw as many minions on those as they like, because if they sold them I would never stop buying them.

Only other issue is whether this comes west or not. If it doesn't that's an issue; they shouldn't be putting minions on collectors items if they have no intention of letting everyone collect them easily.

When will SE start giving non-Japanese speakers this stuff?

As they said on the XI side - based on if there's an actual demand for it, otherwise stuff like this tend to do better in Japan. Aside that, non JP players get ton of FF stuff too, very few things actually remain only sold in Japanese markets.

Mog earrings, asuran arm guards, Hermes boots. I don't think you can obtain those three anymore. You could do the arm guards but SE changed out you redeem their codes on the site.
