If it is added to the game, it'd have to be in arenas or something like that.

This is very true, and I see it all the time in EVE Online. PvE setups never win against PvP setups. Eve Online solved the problem (mostly) by making only certain zones player conquerable and PvP'able. There were MANY zones where you were relatively safe. I say relatively because although you could engage someone in PvP there, if you did so you were attacked and destroyed by NPC players. Furthermore, if you attacked enough players in "safe" zones you would eventually be unable to even enter those zones without being immediately blown up by NPC's unless you spent alot of time doing quests and killing NPC's to increase your standing.

The PvP in that game is actually very well done in concept. Having the player controlled zones, and safe zones is a good way to go. By even entering the player controlled zones you are consenting to PvP, and it even gives you a message to that effect when you try to enter one. The main focus of that game was PvP though, it may not work the same way in a game built for PvE like this one is.

However, It could be done almost exactly the same and work. How would you like to see a shitload of Lala'fel NPC slaughtering a rank 50 greifer who just attacked a rank 5 player outside of Gridania for example? Fun times.

As for jump, there are ways to make jump a useful tool in the game without the lure of having people jump like rabbits. By making jump an emotion and not a instant button press, it cuts down on its time. They can also not make the jump emotion a 10 foot leap in the air. Of Course, jumping as a tool would be more interesting outside, have individual spots where the character can go over, like FF7's green arrow spots. Face it, emote spamming has been with us since the Tarutaru Chorus lines in XI, but there are ways to make jump seem like every other emote.
As i stated before... you can have a PVP flag that you can turn on or off... better yet... starting a leave gives you PVP immunity. Problem fixed...

Some people like PVP others don't, there are tons of games out there that have PVP and they do fine, but a lot of people that dont want PVP come play FF games. SE is not catering to PVP enthusiast it has always been about PVE for them, though I dont know what happen to XIV I mean there really is hardly any PVE to begin with still though why do people insist in PVP being added when it is available elsewhere? And same for jumping, I dont care if its there or not but people tend to act like idiots when it is, I have acted like an idiot with it in other games and I have seen thousand do the same...

Because even if they have a PvP dedicated server its still means they will have to balnace every class inthis game. make every class able to kill any other class. so healers will have crazy dmg, support classes will have crazy dmg, tanks will have crazy dmg do i need to go on?. If you want PvP why are you playing FF14? FF series is about grouping up to get something done not killing each other. if you want that go play 1 of the thousands of other mmos out there.

tell me one thing that PvP wil or could accomplish in this game.... besides somethign to do,bring in more PvP players.
most people in the mmo community never expected or think FF14 is a "PvP" game.

I mean seriously how would it fit? Races hate each other? thats used to death. but why do they hate each other when FF games are about saving the world from something "BIG".

Like I said Spot yea thats fine. but open world PvP equals some sort of hate for other races, factions so on. LL hate grid now? sorry would never fit into a FF game.

People act like idiots with emotes too. I've done it myself. In this game you can make a miqo'te look like its being raped by another player with emotes. In 11 you could make a tarutaru give someone head. People will always do stupid stuff no matter what!

Why do you think balancing PVP will affect PVE in a NEGATIVE way? Why can't i be positive? PVP will bring more balancing, even monthly balancing. But that is hardly a bad thing. It will only ensure no class is overly more powerful.... well some class would be weak vs some but strong others, like in water vs fire vs earth vs wind... some they each have a weakness but are strong vs another.

My point is it will benefit PVE too because like that no 1 class will emerge as best for PVE and that all players will need to use abilities from that class if not they wont be invited to a party or wont make a good enough tank etc... exactly what happened to FF XI.

Another thing why are you worried about PVP when the game is in the state that it is. The game is broken, why add another potential broken thing to it? Let us concentrate on what is broken, get it fixed before we even get into the argument about jumping and PVPing in the game. I rather they fix Combat, Animation, PVE before they even delve into PVP and Jumping.

Get your priorities straight people, if the game cant fix the problems it has now it wont even survive to give you the option of one day seeing PVP or Jumping implemented.

It's just something to talk about while we wait for the next update I think we all realize there are more important things that need fixing first. Well I hope we all realize that....
