I wasn't advocating auto-jump, I was saying that there would be certain "hot-spots" that would allow jump to function if you pressed the button. A hot spot would be pretty much any obstacle you might jump over such as a ledge, shrub etc. where you were within 10 feet of it or something like that.

There may still be a game balancing issue though. Like if they change classes to balance PvP that would affect not only the PvP servers but the rest of the servers that are non-PvP too, because they would have to keep all the classes the same across all servers. They couldn't have some abilities and stuff different on the PvP only servers.

I'm not against PvP on PvP only servers, but it will affect us non PvP players if they change classes to balance PvP.

No PVP and no jumping. OK bye, bye.

My opinion, it might not count for much but its still an opinion.

Does the term "Go play something else." Mean anything to you?

This game isn't designed for pvp. It's a pve game with pve skills. If you wanted a pvp game, you'd have to build the combat system around pvp and SE didn't do that.

Likewise there's a fundamental flaw with most pvp in games: the skill bar you use for adventuring will always lose to a pvp bar. Thus with open world pvp, you'd always lose unless you were set of pvp instead of pvp, and most people won't do that.

If it is added to the game, it'd have to be in arenas or something like that.

ummm balamce will be an issue just for pve.... so balancing is a weak argument. as it will always happen in mmo even just pve ones.

There is one thing that i wish someone can explain to me... please!

Why do most of the FF XIV players have this conception about WOW and FF XI... as far as the mmo genre is concerned..

    WOW= FAIL
    FF XI= WIN! KAWAII! ^_^

WOW= 10-15 million subscribers... they have not only been maintaining a strong number since they started but they keep increasing.

FF XI= 750 000 subscribers at best... maybe it was even halved when FF XIV came out. They only lose subscribers over the years, no real increase.

WOW has jumping... yeah pple spam and abuse it... yes some look like monkeys. It has open world PVP too.. and YUP theres lots and lots of jerks waiting for your noob ass to come around and kill you non-stop.

If these 2 things are so bad and makes new players want to quit then why hasn't WOW's users base decreased considerably over the years? Why hasn't Blizzard address these concerns? I mean it is a nuisance right? Yet their number keep getting higher....

PLZ don't say it is because they have a shit load of content and stuff to do, you guys keep telling me these 2 things will break a MMO so bad that everyone will quit. Nobody mentioned content as a factor.

Now let's take a look at the type of players these 2 games are targeting.

WOW: There is loads of casual players, Hardcore gamers, players that did not have much or any gaming experience (My gf is new to video games yet she loved wow. First time she got killed by a random player she thought it was funny and didn't hear her say f*$# it i quit!) and long time gamers.

FF XI: Hardcore gamers and FF Fans are their main clientele.

So it clear that WOW is successful at reaching a wider range of players and even at maintaining that over the years. Yet their game makes a lot of use of these 2 features (jumping and open world PVP). Can anyone explain that? How is it that it doesn't break WOW at all but will break FF XIV?

Also before you state that SE is aiming at pleasing you personally with FF XIV, remember they stated that FF XIV would be #2 next to WOW and by that they wished to reach the same user base is reaching. From a Business point of view this is what SE will want to do with FF XIV's future... reach as many players as possible. People from all age ranges, sex, and gaming preferences. I can guarantee you they do not wish to make this another NICHE game like FF XI... they already have FF XI they don't need a 2nd.

How will balancing be just an issue for PvE. Balancing will come out from the fact that one jobs skill needs to be adjusted as to prevent overpowering in PvP.

this has gone on long enough. You guys want and scream for more content. Yet said content can't include jumping, swimming or pvp. Do you know how limited that is? sorry i loved ffxi very much and I did enjoy WoW, Aion, and perfect world international. But we need more options for content instead of the tried and tested instance dungeon style game play much like ffxi. if i wanted just dynamis like stuff or besieged like stuff or campaine (sp) like stuff. Id play ffxi. FFXIV need new stuff. Stuff that isn't in ffxi. maybe a mis of stuff from PWI, aion or WoW. PWI claims to have 50mil users, that game has a pk system, double jump, pretty high customization, bonus it is free to play. Each race has special stuff to them. Like an elf like race can fly. the cat races can transform. I never played human.

What I was saying was, if they balance to remove PvP issues it will affect PvE players as well. There are moves that are used in PvP differently than in PvE so changing that move with a focus on PvP would possibly affect PvE players in an unintended way.
