Thanks Stouter, Puro, Harold, scare and all.
Very helpful and thoughtful advice. And yah, we don't know what Shiva and Coil 3 and other things will net us in the future.

I couldn't really find any info when I searched around, so forgive me if this has been talked about before. I was curious about stacking enough piety for 6 fireballs in a rotation. It's completely do-able with the i90 crafted jewelry (rough napkin math I figured you need like +85ish piety) while still being able to maintain pretty high secondary stats + accuracy capped. When I plugged in what I threw together into Puro's spreadsheet and compared it to <Random opinionated BiS> the dps difference was I guess 20ish lower with the piety gear.
20ish is pretty substantial, but I read before that making the 251 piety breakpoint is basically an extra 1.5% dps due to the 5th fireball, so is it just another 1.5% from a 6th? Math really isn't my strong suit at all. Realistically I doubt it'd be even near the same figure and I know this would cost a ridiculous amount of gil to meld together (although what else are you gonna spend gil on?), but its just fun thinking about random setups.
When I tried doing 6fire PIE build, it ended up being a DPS loss over 3 minutes (cancelling all TC and FS procs). PIE you need bare minimum is around 304, might need to overshoot for reliability.
Part of the problem is that unless you overshoot, you have to rely on a very precise UI1 MP tick to be able to even do the 6th fire, assuming:
F3 > F1 x6 > B3 > B1 > T1 > repeat
B1 first because there's not enough MP to do anything else. Depending on when that last UI1 tick happens (before or after Thunder's MP is taken), you end up not being able to do 6 fires.

There seems missing a B3 somewhere.
I'm pretty sure Blizzard under UI costs the same as Thunder, and you would need 315 Piety to get in Fire3 (under UI) > 6xFire > B3 > enough mp for Thunder without a tick of mp.
That 6th Fire isn't worth going for; you're getting around 280-290 potency per GCD with 5 fire rotations, Fire under AF3 gives you 306 potency for a GCD, and an added chance at a firestarter. That ~70 Piety costs much more damage than it gains you.
212 Thunder 1, 319 Thunder 2, 106 Blizz1 during UI-any. Doing B1 > T1 gives you more MP wiggle room.

Have you ever measured a rotation casting fire1 with cancel for firestarter proc? I've seen the claim that doing so would be a dps loss because the proc takes 0.5s to apply, but all this discussion of fire weaving (a mechanical 0.5s delay) implies you're already satisfied losing 0.5s just for the chance of a proc. Starting fire1 immediately with cancel ~0.5s later for a guaranteed proc seems even better.
Apologies if this was covered recently, and I simply didn't see it.
I seek clarification on your rotations. You list T1 + B1/Scathe as being best. However, if you have the requisite 251 peity, then you can easily maintain T2 + B1/Scathe.
T1 lasts 18 seconds, T2 is 21 seconds. With your weights, I end up with a BiS resulting in 537 Spell Speed, or a GCD of 2.31 seconds.
Scathe/B1(2.31) > F3(4.62) > F1x5(16.17) > B3(18.48) > T1/2(20.79/21.25)
So there's almost 3 seconds with T1 where you simply have no Thunder active, and a quarter of a second if using T2. This assuming you have bad luck, and not a single proc.
T2 has the potential for 55 more potency than T1 and has 5% more potential for a proc, through an extra dot tick. Now, to give T1 credit, it allows for better chance of B1 after the T1. However, it's not guaranteed. And, assuming 120 potency for Scathe ((80% x 100) + (20% x 200)), B1 is only 50 potency higher anyway, less than the bonus from T2.

I agree with your statement Fet and was wondering that one myself. I'll still continue to use the Thunder 2 rotation simply because of that. (I've tested both ands still do better on the T2)
