My favourite was the blizzard one in coerthas where u had to stand on the side of the bridge in whitebrim to be able to look down at the dragon corpse, but for some reason i was able to notice a small faint spotlight encasing the dragon which was quite interesting.
    So in the end
Of course it was a timesink but was it worth all tht hassle?
Again of course, i got to see eorzea in interesting ways ( i.e looking at the vista pic in the journal then turning my camera to copy the intended PoV.
Also i had a good time gloating about my apkallu minion ^^.

It\\'s only fun to ppl who make it fun.
So if ur just doing it for the minion then by all means have good luck and enjoy ur fail jumps loooool.

Said it when Sightseeing was released, and I'll say it again.

Weather NPCs are not a fix. All they do is change where you wait. You go from waiting at the Vista, to waiting in town. Is that better? Sure, but a fix? No way. Sightseeing is still reduced to a waiting game, rather than actual sightseeing. It's an utterly ridiculous notion and I cannot believe people are still defending it.

This is side content, to do for fun. What the hell is fun about sitting in town waiting for the Weather NPC to give you the all clear on looking at a dead Goobbue? The restrictions are nonsensical and solely there to create a time sink and it is absurdly apparent that that is what the developers intended it to be.

Rather than being a fun piece of content to do while waiting to do other content, it's instead become something you have to schedule. That is utterly ridiculous. All it does is encourage the use of guides, because who honestly has it in them to not only work out the pin-point location of all 80 locations, but also work out the exact time and weather? After working out he location of the first dozen or so, and not getting credit because the time/weather is wrong, people either give up on this worthless piece of content, or they google it. Was it really worth doing this to Sightseeing just to make a minion rarer than High Allagan gear?

This website is for fishing, but it tracks all the weather for every zone. May be useful?

But this is SE they make everything that could be really fun, really bad.
I am so sure they are gonna screw up golden saucer, they are making it a timed content or a lockout
Maybe you're going about it the wrong way. I mean, I don't think SE intended people to just sit at a spawn point, collect an achievement and camp the next spawn point. I mean, I'm not SE so I don't know.

On the other hand though, you have things in real life like Old Faithful and a solar eclipse that people wait HOURS for just to see it. And they don't get an achievement over their head for it, they just get the satisfaction of having seen it once in their life. And that's enough to motivate people to camp such a sight.

What would be special about the sightseeing log if all the sights were something you saw all the time anyway. I mean, really!

It doesnt have to be special, has to be fun. GW2 had some relatively difficult sights to get to but all you had to do was get to it and thats it. Assassins Creed isnt an MMO but you still enjoyed going to the top of a tower or landmark (AC3) and activating the scene just to look at the eye candy (and reveal the map). Youre always either moving, thinking about how to get there, or enjoying the real time cut scene... not a single one of those made you wait for the right weather conditions ... thats ridiculous. Like someone mentioned before, SE just has this frustrating habit of getting a potentially fun idea, and implementing it with frustrating and redundant 'walls'

A solar eclipse is closer to various FATEs and S Ranks than it is to Sightseeing; Sightseeing is exactly what it says on the tin, seeing physical sights. A solar eclipse is a rare event. The only waiting involved with Sightseeing is saving enough money for a holiday, but that is a real life restriction (as is weather), a video game shouldn't have such a thing. You know, because video games are for fun?

Imagine going to Egypt to see the Sphinx, only to turn up there to see they've put a massive blanket over it which they only remove at 3PM on a Rainy day; "Nope, sorry, you can't take a picture, the time and weather aren't right". You also aren't allowed to learn anything about the Sphinx unless it's the right time and weather, because the lore behind a physical location (not a rare astronomical event) is also locked behind this asinine system.

Seriously, how are people still defending this? The Sightseeing Log wants me, for example, to see The Keeper of the Lake. The picture you receive is of The Keeper of the Lake. The lore you receive is of The Keeper of the Lake. Absolutely nothing in the Sightseeing Log ends up being meteorological, that's just the pathetic time sink the developers tacked on to ruin a perfectly good piece of side content.

Less than 1000 people on my server have finished the logs. Makes me hope they add it as a step in relic just to upset people.

In an other topic we were discussing about the weather NPC and i said there: it would be much better to have it like a buff activating and then having a better/extended weather forecast icon on minimap for a limited time...
To move back and forth to meet a single NPC is wasting teleports...

Result is: players asking Bots or Friends if they can look at NPC which weather will be next... Thats exactly what i feared back then and thats why i dont like it.

At least they have read the discussion and made it so, that you can see all regions at once (in one of the 3 big areas - dont try to cross countries, more teleport wasting ^^)... not one NPC in each region! Its something we can live with, not the best solution, but its OK.

According to xivsoul.com only 1255 players finished the quest (on ALL servers together!)
Compared to Bluebird (15026 players found it) or Magic Broom (3591 owners)...
