Because the party member gave NO indication that he/she was new! Again, nobody is a mind reader. If nobody speaks up and says they're new, what else are we supposed to do other than have a laugh at their expense with our FCs?Someone needing to learn a fight should not be considered a problem. It should be an opportunity to teach. To help. To make the community stronger. Instead of helping, people go on their FC and complain about how the PT sucks cause one person is new or doesn't know the fight, all the while forgetting that, at one time, that was you.
For the most part, people can tell when someone is new by just the class they are on - the base classes I mean. When someone is up in the advanced jobs, they should know what they are doing by that point. If anyone notices someone in the base classes, yeah, cut them some slack. lol And just in general, be courteous, don't be an arse hat. If you are in a bad mood (I am using the word "you" generally speaking for anyone), get off of the game and punch a bean bag or take up some other hobby to release the tension.
That isn't really a good indication. There are plenty of GLDs, ARCs, and base classes that have done a run any number of times and for whatever reason aren't queued up as a job. I also wouldn't assume that because a person is on a job rather than a base class that they do in fact know what they're doing, as Alma pointed out more than a few posts ago.
It's a bigger issue with tanks. The game does a pretty good job of teaching a new player how to do damage or how to heal. But it certainly doesn't do a thing to help someone who's foreign to the idea maintaining enmity learn to grasp it.I've actually found the opposite. I haven't had anything rude done or anything like that. I only played one other MMO and it was pretty different from this one. I've done pretty well in my Class though. Could be why I haven't had any mean people. Everyone seems nice though

Ever consider that it's not just specific fight mechanics but how the class works itself? Few days ago I got into AK with a BLM with vanity glamours and a monk in i90 gear and a healer in soldiery. Nobody said anything past greetings so I proceeded to pull the 1st humanoid set, the 3 hyppogryphs, 1 dullahan and 2 hyppogryphs. The monk dc'd mid pull which was fine because we have a BLM still and I'm way overgeared as a tank for AK. Tanked it for a good minute until I start getting suspicious and start looking at why the mobs are dying so slowly. Turned out the black mage is casting single targets with 8 mobs in combat. So I stopped after the fight and asked the black mage why she's doing what she did while examining her gear. She said she was new and still figuring out how to play blm (at lvl 50...) and and her gear seems to support so (why she has the hawaiian bikini glamour when she's this new baffles me). I didnt want to go into too much detail about the full aoe rotation so I suggested that she use fire 3 > fire 2 > flare > transpose. The monk reconnected and we kept going. This time I noticed that she's going fire2 > fire3 > transpose (like, for real) so I tried to correct her again.Someone needing to learn a fight should not be considered a problem. It should be an opportunity to teach. To help. To make the community stronger. Instead of helping, people go on their FC and complain about how the PT sucks cause one person is new or doesn't know the fight, all the while forgetting that, at one time, that was you.
Now we got to the first boss in AK and we fought him without too much trouble. But in between dodging void thunders and stunning mind melt, I noticed that she was doing fire3 > fire2 > flare even on the boss. So after the fight, I explained to her again that what I told her to do was for multiple targets and that she should go back to fire1 rotation when fighting single targets. I pulled the first set of gargoyles and the 2 spirit and bull demon instead of pulling more thinking that that's enough and NOW she starts using single target rotation again! So at this point I decided to drop defiance and put on dps accs and pull 1 pack at a time. After demon wall I tried to correct her again and this time she's doing aoe rotation while I'm still pulling packs 1 by 1. But then on the last boss she keeps using the simple flare rotation again! That was a lost cause and I just took the clear and left while the rest of party was cheering for themselves.
You don't need to be able to read minds. You just need to be able to read...the big flying text that says, "One or more Party Members are new to this..."
If you signup for Low Level Duty Roulette or Story Mode Duty Roulette, chances are at least 1 person is going to be a 1st timer, which is what they were created for (we are being rewarded for helping). We should always try to be patient and helpful to 1st timers. Do not Speed Run. Do not force CutScene skipping and do not run ahead while they are watching CutScenes.

Papa was a rolling stone...wherever he laid his barbut was home.
The message isn't always accurate. There can be players who have done the fight before but unsubbed and came back (just like yoship told them to) forgetting how the fights work like this bard (in yellow). The black is the summoner who just kept silent the whole way while I made one line directions for the party as a tank (both dps ignored the adds and focused the 1st boss, then focused the 2nd boss again and I ended up doing the bombs because I wanted to avoid wiping again like in 1st boss). At the last boss the smn admitted he knows what to do but just stayed silent when asked who wants to do the worm feeding. The bard volunteered and failed and we wiped. I asked the bard to do it faster but ended up doing it myself because the bard was having trouble with the adds (smn wasn't helping at all). At no point I verbally attacked anyone unless you somehow get offended by "I thought you guys have done this before? There was no new player bonus message", which is how I found out the bard hasn't played in a while.

Knowing a given fight, is different from knowing your role. I've never gone into content not knowing what all my abilities do and how to play my role well. I take personal pride in trying to play as best as possible, and I do not like slacking off because it harms the group, even if only in a minor way in some places. Why? Because I don't like it when people do that to me.Someone needing to learn a fight should not be considered a problem. It should be an opportunity to teach. To help. To make the community stronger. So, yes, we were all new players once. But even in my FIRST MMO, forgot when that even was, I never had these issues.
Well then, I would think you brought it upon yourself. In the first dungeon you have very little to do. You should know how all your skills (The very few you have at that point) work by then.
Now, having trouble keeping enmity as a GLD in Sastasha is completely normal, but not knowing what Flash does due to not reading and not listening to the tutorials is you and every newbies own fault.
I even remember very specifically that one of the GLD quests talks about how Flash is supposed to be used. It's not hard to see how that's useful in a group situation.Well then, I would think you brought it upon yourself. In the first dungeon you have very little to do.
