    This is a bad idea. I am against it.

    It should be "Seek As Job" or "Seek As Class" with the ability to select multiple classes that you are seeking a party as. You should be able to switch your class to something else (like DoL or DoH classes or something to solo with) while you wait for an invite.

    The OP wants something that was clearly broken from FFXI.

    Slight improvement to the FFXI version I would like to seek as a class while I am another. For example I would like to seek a group for my pugilist while I go about mining, or sit around crafting on another class.

    Otherwise I'm just forced to solo grind, or AFK which means I might miss party invites!
