When I tried to make the thread I had not made any threads or posts for the day so I'm thinking they may have a bug in the system.

Had you made some the previous day? It's a rolling 24 hour window rather than a daily reset. So for instance, if you make several posts in the late afternoon one day, it will take until late afternoon the next day before they stop being counted against your daily limit.

And while posts here in the New Player Help forum aren't blocked when you go over the limit, they do get counted as part of your daily limit. So making several posts here can block you from being able to then make another post on the other forums.
