They can't seriously repeat that same mistake again. Make an instanced zone for each city state specifically for the ceremonies. Or screw it, why can't I get hitched at my Free Company housing? Doesn't even have to be a scripted event, Player 1 does quest to get ring to give to significant other. Player 2 does quest to give a ring in return. Talk with the priest dood in the church outside Drybone. Married. If people want to do ceremonies, thats what the instances are for, or their personal home, or the company home should the FC leader allow it.

No need to have waiting period when divorcing your partner is going to be as easy as deleting said ring from your inventory.

I would like to see a community rep clarify as well. Rift had a very smooth way of doing this that allowed friends you brought into the instance to "Attend" the ceremony, and there were fun party favors and a feast. The two things that worry me about this is

1. applying via the website - there is no need to have any part of this happen outside the game
2. working furiously on "cutscenes" - there is no need for this to be "cutscene" driven. Guests at the wedding should be able to attend the ceremony as well.

This is pretty cool sounding, I hope the web portion isn't too obnoxious of a step though - that could be a nice place to have a hiccup. I'm curious how they will do "undevotions" lol, especially since there seems to be some game components and possible rewards (shareable mount).

I thought in FFXI they ended up making it an automated process? Like a few years later. Perhaps I remember incorrectly, but it was definitely GM ran initially - certainly made long waiting lists XD.

They did, yes.

This time around they're making special cut-scenes/events.

Hey now, I think it would be great to have cutscenes together. At the moment all we have is a few dungeons (and the victory cutscenes of course) where you just see your party members standing around in the background. Having stuff where you're interacting together could be neat.

As for applying via the website...I dunno? Maybe the rewards are account bound rather than character bound and applying lets it be sent to each character? *shrug*

Curious if SE will revoke a bonded persons duo-mount chocobo if you disvow, or how hard it will be to obtain in the first place.

Some people like to RP, or others want to signify there relationship with a player beyond the Friend List. Some will simply just want to go on a interesting quest. I personally cannot see myself doing this, but I am glad it is being added for those who want it!

That being said, one of the reasons I started playing was because they were going to allow same-sex unions. Hope it is something they are still going to add!
