What would be the next step to get him to soot black? I heard 1 Valefruit but I have tried that before and got me to hunter Green. Any advice?

    Old Color: Hunter Green R34 G68 B38

Fed 3 Apples and 2 berries VVVVVVV

    New Color: Deepwood Green R25 G36 B28

    Desired Color: Soot Black R37 G35 B30

This is based on testing the revised RGB posted by "AttacKat": http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...=1#post2383813

    Current Colour: Deepwood Green
    31R 47G 39B

    Soot Black:
    47R 47G 39B

    You could try:

    x2 Valfruit
    x1 Pineapple

This should put your end values roughly around 51R 47G 39B (assuming +/- 5 average integer) which is right around the revised RGB for Soot Black (might still need a bit more tweaking); RNG is still a factor so mileage may vary.

Here's my wine red choco. For the life of me I can't remember how many fruits I used though, but it was a mix of the 3 darkening ones.

So after fiddling around Kobold browns, deepwood greens and ink blues, I finally got soot black! ^^

I fed 2 pineapples from ink blue to get soot black, but I think the results may vary, since when it was Kobold brown the first time round I fed it only 1 plum, but it turned into Deepwood green, instead of soot black like it was speculated to. (Ended up I did alot of tinkering around with the darker colors to trial and error)

i think +8/-8 might be the scale. your 2 pineapple 1 valfruit 1 plum theory yielded kobold brown. and ill try the plum again. see if maybe rnjesus gives me soot black

updated color scale from new thread. this makes alot of peoples color combinations make sense if this is accurate

I'm currently sitting at Russet Brown and looking to get to Soot Black. Colors have been Standard > Blood Red > Russet Brown.

So I am currently at Charcoal Grey
    65 64 59

I want to get Soot Black

    -37 -35 -30

Which is a difference of 28, 29, 29. Is there a way to get them all to drop uniformly?

    I'm going to try 2/2/2 Berry/Apple/Pear.

Interesting. My original "Guide" listed that it could be anywhere from approx. +/-3 to +/-6; we've just been using +/-5 for ease of calculation as it appeared to be a sweet spot (maybe not so much with Soot Black). Increasing the integer and working on the new colour scale does indeed make sense keeping in mind that there is still likely a "colour range" and getting close/inside that range should pop you into the Dye colour without having "exact" numbers. Need the loopers to test it out.

Interested in what you think about what I said Here on the previous page. If the numbers are as exact as they are shown, shouldn't it be as simple as we made it from the start? The loop effect doesn't make sense to me based on our numbers, unless its magically rounding us to the nearest color.. which still doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

I tried something to push me out of the loop, will have results in 3 hours.

Reading your previous post, it seems you are looking for exact numbers. If the feeds to have change the value over a range or +/- 3 to 6 then there are chances you won't hit the exact values for your given colour. There has to be some sort of approximation based on the ratio of R:G:B and the colour they most closely represent.
