Rogue/Ninja Starting Class?

I heard the reason Yoshi-P is adding in this class/job is because he felt it was missing from the original lineup. I wonder if that means Rogue will become a starting class we can select when making our character or be something we have to unlock and earn through the storyline?

I get the impression that for now it will be something to unlock then once 3.0 hits it will become a starting class that can be selected from the character creation and up.

That also makes me wonder if the 3.0 classes will be selectable at start-up or something you need to unlock and earn? I hope it will be a combination of both, need to be L50+ to unlock class then class starts at level one. Hope some of this will become clearer once patch 2.4 hits. (Unless a Dev wants to comment sooner )

To allow all new prospects to play all of what the game offers, they must allow them select-able from the beginning. This means when you create a character from scratch, Rogue is a class you can start as.

Where they can deviate, is if they ever decide to do advanced jobs in which you require levels in two separate jobs to play.

I would hope so, it wouldn't make much sense to need to be 50 just to start a new class. but this is SE we are talking about, so can't rule out that possibly (as i have a good idea who starts the class)

Wouldn't that cause a paradox? I mean, say you're a new character and you level up Rog/NIN first. You're a NIN when Yugiri is talking about teaching Eorzeans how to be ROG/NIN...but you're there already a NIN....

Possible, I suppose, but I doubt it. Thancred already has a role in the story. I don't really see him being pulled aside from his role in the Scions to run a class guild. Doing both would just make his appearances confusing.

This is why i said it's possible, you need 50 because to even see Yugiri, you have to advance far in the main story, which requires 50. unless they pull out a hidden peron not revealed (maybe someone who knows her or taught her)

As mentioned before....

There are several reason why Rogue and Ninja adventurers can exists during the 2.0 and 2.1 time before Yugiri and the people who followed her arrived to Eorzea from the Far East.

Rogue
As mentioned before in 2.2 the Rogue guild has secretly existed in Limsa for a long time. However, despite existing in secret they still obtain a steady amount of new recuits to allow the guild to continue existing like any other guild.

New players who start out as Rogue, while start out in 2.0 era like any other new character, lore wise they are only a Rogue because the new character is a select few who have proven to be worthy of joining the Rogues.

Ninja

Well this lore is a bit obvious but most likely the Ninja trainer will be a new NPC that is or once was a Ninja.
Only lore reason for the Ninja Trainer to be in Eorzea during 2.0 to 2.1 story is that the Ninja Trainer fled to Eorzea long before the events of 2.2 either because of the Garlean Empire or for his or her own Personal reasons.

Thanks for that. I must have missed where this was stated. That pretty much answers my questions and I'm sorry for bringin it up again when It's already been answered. Looking forward to patch 2.4 and beyond!
