Stop stifling the creators' imaginations with your petty wishes and nostalgic longings.

They shouldn't be fanservicing people with the same old same old, they should be creating and imagining new things. Quit living in the past.

Doing anything like that in FFXIV is like saying FFXI is the better game and that FFXIV alone isn't good enough. Thatn't should be what the devs aim for. They should aim to suprass FFXI, not fall back on their laurels.

Resting on laurels never gets you anywhere. Besides, imitations are never as good as the real thing.
No one's stifling everything, you can rest assured that the art team and developers aren't sat with their note pads writing all these ideas down for the future.

Chill out, you bad enough bads that I think you can give others a break.

Edit: That's not to say I agree with reintroducing FFXI stuff, it's gone, let it die. But certain people around here seem to think they're part of the dev team just because we have a forum, and it's becoming aggravating.

Get a grip, it's only a forum. Control your emotions.

Anyway, how do you guys think the artists feel that you don't appreciate their creativity enough to design something new. FFXIV has potential to be better than FFXI but that can't happen if you keep clutching at FFXI for nostalgia's sake, afraid to let go.

Get a grip? My point was you were the one slamming someone else despite your track record and a lot of hostility towards others, case in point, this.

The artists probably don't care because, as you said, it's only a forum. Besides, who says people can't appreciate the new whilst also liking what they've done before and wanting to see more of it?

Edit: I don't understand this mentality of 'You like x, go play x'? It's only natural that games incorporate from other areas, FFXIV is going to be unique in its own right in the end anyway.
I liked the designs of certain areas in FFXI because they captured a mood really nicely, I liked the forests of Zi'Tah because they were eery and interesting, I liked Wajaom woodlands because it had vibrant colour and looked really unique. Would I like those traits carried over new areas? Sure! Am I living in the past because of it? I wouldn't say so!

I was just giving you some advice. You said you found "so and so very aggravating". Which I'm sure is bad for your blood pressure. I was thinking of your welfare. Jeez, next time I won't even bother.

In any case, you're kind of right. The fact of the matter is, nobody gives a damn about this thread. Nor any thread on the english forums. But what if Bayone (or whatever his name is) comes in and and does the usual "oh wow you guys suggested glowing weapons I better forward this to the dev team pronto" shpiel?

Then you would be grateful we made counter-arguments so it doesn't seem like there is unanimous support for this crazy wasteful idea.

And this is how I see it: I would rather the development team (who I do trust in an artistic sense) spend their precious resources making new things, new zones, rather than making an homage to a bygone era (FFXI). We will never be able to love FFXIV if FFXI is allowed to live vicariously through it.

It just seems kind of rude to put in something from FFXI (and I mean hello! - we already have the same races). Because it's like saying FFXIV is not satisfactory on its own.

FFXIV needs to stand on its own without the bolstered support of FFXI nostalgia. There comes a time when you can't keep using the dregs of the FFXI expat community as a crutch for the whole game.
