I'm logged in on my PS3, but I have a bad habit of never turning it off so...I guess for DDoS attacks not logging out is good?

I also can't log into PSN, but I'm still in the game; didn't know that was possible.

Its because you are connected to FFXIV's servers.

In order to get access to those servers, you need to be online (sony). So since you logged in before it went down, your already connected to SE directly so your golden as far as FFXIV is concerned.

Now if somehow you lost connection...then it means you just joined the "outside looking in" club.

As long as you're in game, even if PSN kicks you out of the PS network, you're okay. You just can't log in with PSN down.

I really wish they could make it so that you don't have to log onto psn to play. I mean, for ps3 users, it shouldn't be a big deal. For ps4 users, they could just use a check method where when you log in, it checks when your psn plus expires and place a marker and then allow you to log in until the marked date, updating each login with psn up.

Then have a say backup function for if the psn is down, to have it so that we don't need the psn to be up. Like have it so that normally it works how it already works, but when psn goes down, have it so that it switches to a backup system.

You don't need PSN Plus to play FF XIV.
You only need to be log in to your PSN accont before you can log in to the SE servers (the PSN account and the SE service account are linked together).

Yeah, that makes sense. I made it in the club before the bouncer got shot. Trying to find a pug T8 and T9 clear for the week before my new static starts and these asshats might have ruined my clear streak by kicking off a lot of people.

Just was able to log in (on PS3), not sure if they're done doing whatever they're doing but keep trying if you can't still get in.
