the plants with Grade 3 Shroud soil produced 36 fruit
the plants with Grade 1 Shroud soil produced 23 fruit
the plants with Grade 3 Thanalan soil produced 18 fruit and 1 seed per plant (gysahl with this combination) that was planted with the Thanalan soil

So I've just harvested gazillion of colour food fruits - one from each type including Han Lemon using Grade 3 Shroud top soil for increased yield (planted at 20:30 CET on patch day). Each produced 36 fruits apart of Han Lemon which yielded "only" two. No seeds apart of one fruit planted next to Egplant Knight from where I've obtained 12 Gysahl Green seeds as well - yay! Rest of the fruit were planted next to other colour fruits or Krakka Root. I still have second batch to be harversted soon, one of them also planted on the other side of the knight. Will update this post once harversted.

That's normal - I get regularly multiply seeds from Krakka Roots planted in Grade 3 Shroud top soil. At least once or twice per each round I plant in two large garden patches (16 beds) so even with such "low" chance I produce over all much more main plants and side seeds than if I'd use Thanalan top soils which cuts the yield to half although guaratee (only one per plant though) seeds. Overall - I'll get almost the same amount of the seeds but double amount of the main plants.

Basically - use Shroud (yield+) top soild for high yield / low cost / fast grow plants like Krakka Roots and Colour Fruits and Thanalan (cross+) for high cost / low yield / slow grow plants like Broom Brush, Glazenut or Thanvarian onion.

Yeah, that's a really good plan. I thought of it in the past, but without anyone really saying/recommending to do this in any of the guides I've studied, I've always just stuck to the Grade 3 Thanalan soil. I used Grade 3 Shroud soil on Krakka before, but never saw additional yields in terms of cross-bred seeds obtained or even seen.

I'm going to start doing this from now on so I don't have to consume so many Grade 3 Thanalan soil anymore. I'm not sure how to go about this, but should I use Grade 3 Shroud soil on only 1-2 seeds per patch, or x4 Grade 3 Shroud soil for all the Krakka root seeds / x4 Grade 3 Thanalan soil for the 4 other (non-krakka root) seeds I decide to go with? Such as the chocobo dye fruit which spontaneously yielded for me x9 Curiel root seeds?

On the subject of Thav onions to rank up your chocobo. It's been tested out today that it needs to be fed by you to actually raise the level cap of your chocobo.

Gave an onion to someone in the FC to feed it while I was a work after I logged in the morning to feed it, to reach capped exp, then take it out and kill 1 mob to reach the next rank.

    So feed Onions yourselves!

Harvested my snacks today, ALL planted with G3 Shroud Soil

I think I just got astronomically lucky with 2 of the 4 crossing. Interesting note is that all of them were planted next to Chamomile. Since I got Pearl ginger from the O'Ghomoro berries and Curiel Roots from the cieldaleas Pineapples, my first impression is that all of the snacks behave exactly like Krakka roots for the purposes of crossbreeding. Needs more supporting data, of course.

Edit: Replanted Chamomiles with G3 Thanalan Soil in between the dyes, to see what I get from those. Expected results are Pearl Ginger and Curiels regardless of which snack it's next to

Check my post from earlier, a few posts/pages back; I also got the x9 Curiel root seeds.

What soil did you use for that bed? I'm trying to remember what I had used in each spot since I basically threw whatever the hell I had in my retainer that wasn't needed for cross-breeding into the spots for the chocobo dye fruit. I think I might have used a Grade 3 Shroud soil for the O'Ghomoro berry that gave me the x9 seeds. Also, to go along with your post, I had x4 chamomile with all x4 Grade 3 Thanalan soil placed previous to the patch going live, since I was trying to grow Curiel roots. Funny enough I got more than I ever imagined, ironically. Funny how things work out sometimes.

I used Grade 3 Shroud Soil for all of my dyes/snacks. Since you got Curiel Roots from your O'Ghomoro Berries planted next to Chamomile, and I got Pearl Ginger roots from my O'Ghomoro Berries planted next to Chamomile, this is perfectly supporting my theory that all snacks act like Krakkas. Since Pearl ginger/Curiel is what they yield next to Chamomile, and also I got Curiel roots from my Cieldalaes Pineapples planted next to Chamomile. Looking good so far.
