Do we really need so many crafting drops in HM Dungeons?

Just curious as if this is being looked into by SE (and apologies if someone has already posted about this before...).

I've spent 4 hours today, running Tam Tara Deepcroft Hard Mode, Stone Vigil Hard Mode, Brayflox's Longstop Hard Mode and Hullbreaker Isle (trying to get some of the Divine armor pieces for my DRG and PLD), and only crafting items have dropped... on each run.

I know that the gear has a low percentage rate of dropping... but this is getting ridiculous... I'd compare the drop rate to the Ultra Rare weapons appearing in the Weapon Packs from the ingame store for Mass Effect 3's MP.

Does anyone know if this has been raised/acknowledged by SE and that there's a possible chance that they are looking into changing/fixing the drop rate?

SE did answer about this subject once. They are planing to remove the crafting materials from the boss chests, but honestly I'm not sure you'll like the result of this.
Those materials sell for 10-15k each on my server (aside from a few exceptions) and I can already see their price raise once they are removed from chests.

Why? Because those are at the core of our current crafting tool set. Vanya/darksteel ingot/rose gold ingot/hard leather are basically used for about everything worth it. The result of such change will be to further empower the crafters who bothered leveling their desynthing skills. Yes, they'll desynth dungeon armors to obtain those rather easily, while you'll have to get 3*9 pieces of armors to get ONE of the base materials from GC seals trading. Imagine the grind.

If you support such a change, do not complain about how crafters have all the money and how it's a pain to get materias for your novus. Stop making the game harder for yourself with inconsiderate requests.

To answer your thread title: yes! Very much yes!

It is already hard enough to get them by farming GC seals which IMO are rather slow, even with me provisioning the dungeon gears or crafted i55+ weapon/gears.

The gears from dungeons only serves for vanity purpose, other than GC seal worthy trade.

Maybe less cooking sherries though. lol

Don't you think you're coming at her a bit hard? I mean really? For those non crafters, it's not a terrible thing to wonder about. Why not just simply add a second loot table for crafting items and one for the gear?

They already do that in Syrcus tower where the Onion Knight is concerned. Wouldn't be so hard to just have crafting materials drop like that too. Also, she never once mentioned anything about Crafters having all the money or even working on her Novus. YOU brought that up.

Cut her some slack, she wasn't complaining about any of that. She just commented on how you can do run after run after run and not see a single thing drop but crafting materials. Wasn't an inconsiderate request at all.

Horobi, if you read my post correctly, you will see that I did not say I wanted the crafting items removed. On Ridill, the items (Cooking Sherry, Potash, Coke, Aqueous Whitestone etc) are all selling for well under 5k (one doesn't even sell for 900g on the MB), so if they are high on Malboro, congratulations. I never complained about crafters 'having all the money', so please don't say I am. To be honest, getting Novus is pretty low on my list of priorities at the moment...

Let me ask you this: How is it a inconsiderate request, asking if the drop rate could be raised and NOT have the materials removed completely? Make it more fair for those who are after something specific and don't want to spend time grinding away in a specific dungeon, all in a vain chance to 'try' and get a piece of gear they want... only to have wasted 20-30 mins running a dungeon and getting nothing... not just due to the drops themselves... but also the RNG of the loot system?

BobbinT, I'm not advocating the complete removal of the crafting materials... Where in my post did I say "I WANT THE CRAFTING MATERIALS REMOVED COMPLETELY!!"? I don't think I said that, nor did I imply that. If it came across that way, then I do apologise as that was not my intent. All I was wondering was if the drop rate for the gear could be raised at least... to make it so it's not such of a bugbear to try and get a specific piece one is after. Just seems a waste of time for someone to continually run and run a dungeon... and rather disheartening to see nothing but crafting materials drop after each boss... run after run.

    Jingai, precisely.

I apology if my post seems a bit harsh. That wasn't my intent.

I'm just slightly annoyed at the current trend in this forum when it comes to crafting when I keep seeing threads about requests that WILL make the game harder than currently.
There's apparently an person who monitors the economy in SE's team. He fixed the situation concerning the brooms used for chocobo stables, while admitting it was his mistake. Just let him do his work and give him the benefit of the doubt.

    OP asking question. I simply replied. Didn't though I get offensive remarks, even harsher than what @Horobi says... ^^;

Don't ask if you don't want to hear opinion not suited for yours.

Perhaps the crafting items could drop from somewhere else instead.

e.g. There are several trials without any drops at all, maybe add some chests for those? (Chimera, Hydra, Gilgamesh, Leviathan HM, Ramuh HM)

It's only getting worse. The other night I had an EPIC dream. If you've been so lucky, you know the type. It's like you know you're dreaming, and nothing can hurt you. Anyways, in this particular dream I was kind of like James Bond, or at least how I imagine Bond if he was a crime fighting toothpick. I did a lot of things that night. I stopped not one, but TWO nuclear attacks. I convinced the 2.5 million people living at the base of that active volcano that they should find a new home. I planted a bomb on an asteroid hurtling towards Earth. Those are just the highlights.
At the end, President Bruce Willis invited me to the White House. He gave a great speech, about how incredibly incredible I was. By the end of the speech, the billions of viewers at home were all on there feet. They watched with pride, as President Willis handed me a fine bottle of cooking sherry to thank me for my efforts.

    I woke up screaming.
