We've had French, English, and Japanese inspired clothing in XIV, and some of the Mithras in XI dress in the Native American style.
How about some Native African styles?

Since we're on the subject... I don't care about sexy clothing.
But I won't complain if they add pleated skirts and loose socks/leg warmers.

I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.
Thanks for the feedback, everyone. There are some interesting ideas that are being presented in the thread - and I'm sure everyone can agree that we don't want to go overboard, but it can still be something fun to implement. Any specific types of outfits/armors you want to see specifically? I'll try and compile a list for the dev. team to peruse.

Maybe there could be 'Final Fantasy Series' Cosplay armor added, made to look like past main character armor. Some of them had pretty sexy outfits.

As well as the sort of clothing we would possibly see in something like Final Fantasy Tactics. (The original game.) The art style for that clothing was good. Also, it was earlier mentioned about location specific gear. Such as, what I would imagine is:
Ul'dah clothing, being in the desert, could look something like Auron (FFX) and Fang (FFXIII) inspiried? (Ul'dah style also seems to be heading down the road of a-symmetrical gear anyway, due to the Grand Company leader, lol.)
Gridania clothing, being amongst the nature similar to Pulse, I would say could have a look inspired by Vanille (FFXIII) and Kimihari Ronso (FFX.) (Rough and somewhat tattered, but also appealing and more tribal feeling.)
Then with Limsa style clothing, perhaps something more steam punk like Balthier (FFXII), Zidane (FFIX), and sort of Dagger (FFIX).
Last but not least, Ishgardian style to me would just be equavalent to Ivalice style. Final fantasy tactics and some of final fantasy XII's attire I think would fit well in that society.
Just some ideas that you could easily get inspiration from previous Final Fantasy titles. =)

These ideas don't fall completely under the "sexy" train of thought but for clothing ideas as a whole:
- As was mentioned before, regional clothing styles would be a fantastic addition to the game. As it stands there's little out there that is tied to any regional theme which is rather unfortunate.
- Casual clothing would also be good. Something you wouldn't wear while going out on a hunt but maybe just while walking around town, to a guild meeting or while talking with friends.
- Costumes would be a fun addition, maybe tied into holiday events like Halloween. As Reika suggested older FF cosplay costumes or even costumes styled after certain monsters in the world. I believe FFXI had a Goblin styled hat, did it not? Things like this are fun and of course not meant for serious combat but just for messing around with friends.
Also Eldaena, those links don't work on my end though I have seen them before and they're fantastic work.
getting 404s with your link, just telling you.http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...orsocorset.png

Anyway, I would like to see variations on clothing, you know how there's a recepie for dying outfits different colors, well, maybe we can include recpies for regional variations, like one recipe for a Gridanian style bolero jacket, and one for a LL style bolero jacket.
