I was iLvl 73 for Syrcus Tower and people raged that my iLvl was too low?

If the game lets you queue in DF for it your item level is sufficient to be there. Whether it is mechanically enough to pass the content is irrelevant. There are so many i100 people in ST, hard primals, expert roulette, and every other pug dungeon wrestling each other over oils and tomes and alt gear that they shouldn't even notice the difference.

IME, some of the players in ST are such slackasses that you'll pull the same numbers they do at i90 (EHP, DPS, HPS, whatever) just by playing your job to its limit at i70. You'd have to be seriously damn good, but I'm not joking.

If I'm there for armor I'll check out others on the same job to see what they are currently wearing so I know if I have competition. Also, people wear glamours a lot in ST so I sometimes check because of that. I'm not checking for ilvl, though. Mine is high enough that I'm not too concerned with anyone else's.

Do some of the new hard modes for 80 gear it's very easy.

Maybe for the tank, but otherwise it shouldn't be a big deal.

There are some mechanics that can't be avoided that do a significant amount of damage and if you step in oops it could kill you often.

Well honestly... there is zero reason to enter st without i90 gears consider how easy it is to get them form the hunt vendor

I have farmed 0 hunts and won't even stop if I happen upon a mob now. I have gotten a total of 39 seals since they started, it's a broken, crap system.

I dunno. I had a ST party once with a Drg who was using the unfinished Relic weapon as his weapon. Obviously he met or surpassed the minimum requirements needed to enter ST but I find that really annoying. His dps was terrible, as to be expected, and when I got onto him about it he switched his weapon out... with an even lower i40something weapon. I really don't think he was doing it to anger me or anyone else on purpose, because he eventually must have realized he lowered his damage even more with the even lesser weapon and ended up wearing the unfinished relic again to finish out ST.

I and the other members of the party practically carried him through ST. He died quite a few times, mostly because he just didn't have the HP to survive taking much damage. His gear in general was very lackluster, so to me that screams he's relatively a new level 50 player.

Personally, I don't like these kinds of players. It's not because they are newly level 50, but because they don't even seem to try to gear themselves up better for higher tier content before attempting to do that content. Sure you can enter ST at the minimum requirements, does that mean it's a good idea... not really. The dungeon drops i100 gear, please have at least an ilvl of somewhere between 80-90 before queing in. You'll be better prepared to survive, and you'll be a competent member of your party, assuming you even know how to play your job properly.

Back when I hit 50 for the first time, I sure as hell didn't start doing the relic quest until I had all of my Darklight armor and accessories. I wanted to be an asset to the other players I was fighting the primals with, not a hindrance so when I started doing Ifrit and Garuda I had most if of the DL set and what wasn't DL were AK/WP drops. So you can bet I ran Ifrit until I got my Ifrit weapon, and then Garuda until I got that weapon (at the time I think the Garuda and Titan weapons were the same ilvl so I didn't have to run Titan until I got that weapon). With my Garuda weapon and full DL (gradually replacing my DL accessories with myth accessories as I became able to do so [myth cap was low]) I felt quite confident that I wouldn't hinder whatever group I joined and secure in that I was doing the best I could do to work towards that goal of obtaining my relic weapon.

So yeah, it irks me when someone else doesn't even try, and it brings down the rest of the party/group's performance.

I'm not saying you need to be i100+ for ST, but at the very least be i80-90. That's not even hard to achieve these days. And for the love of god, if you're a dps, have like.. bare minimum at least an i70 weapon.

There was (intentionally) some room left for carry parties. But you can't expect other people to carry you and normally you should not behave in such a way.
My most infuriating experience in DF were when a tank decided that he can spiritbond in HM dungeons, and he went with the whole set, both right side (that I normally don't really care) and *left* side. Yes, he passed "minimum requirements" and I (as a healer) honestly tried to pull it off, but when he died from oneshot 3 times in a row, I told him goodbye.

I sometimes check people who die a lot. Never complain though. Just for personal understanding whether people underequipped or underskilled.

Eh, it depends on how you meet your i70. If you have an i70+ weapon and mostly i70+ gear on your left side, it's good enough. You're not going to help face roll the dungeon, but you'll perform well enough.

If you've got an i55 weapon, are wearing your AF (i50-i55) and have some i90+ accessories and belt to meet the i70 minimum reqs, then you're abusing the ilvl system and are a problem.
