A sudden change - Immersion flies out of the window.

Yesterday, me and a friend got together, setting up a ps4 to a monitor and desk, and another to the tv for some Immersive 2 player action, our target, the ultima weapon.

however, when we finally got into our new dungeon, rather hyped for our second 8 player dungeon with a nasty boss at the end, alongside the story which has finally kicked into overdrive after remembering its a final fantasy.

What i got, was pretty much one long movie of cut-scenes ending in being dismissed from the dungeon. Why? because suddenly we had been placed with players who had one thing in mind, rushrushrushrush musht get those numbers higher!!!.

Speed runners, speed running has its place in mmo's everyone understands this, but to show such blatant disrespect to players who wish to experience the story? that isn't acceptable.

Speed running belongs with pre-made parties, party finder for example. so its perfectly possible to allow story goers to enjoy the cut scenes and bosses as an immersive experience as opposed to this.

I said something to these speed runners and i just wound up in an argument over this whole fact, really? its a game? if you're going to spend the whole time ruining someones experience then you should go back to Jrpg's they have plenty of farming and grinding for you to sink your teeth into, without the niggling annoyance of other players.

They even said some strange line, for me to go to my bed and watch the cut scenes later and just play through without them for this run. i have no idea why bed was included, but that just completely ruins the whole idea of tension, momentum and all that which makes a great story great.

This may not be the norm in the community, but for those who do not respect someone who simply wants to enjoy the story, i say that you are selfish. Its so easy to use the party finder to accomplish speed running with a consecutive group, reducing Queue times as-well. its win-win, story goers enjoy playing through the entire dungeon, no speed run tactics and enemies skipped, as-well as patience during the cut scenes, while the speed runners cut down on Queue time all together.

The sad thing is, it harms your own run too, the instant karma from this whole debacle was so satisfying, because i was still speeding through cut scenes during the final battle against the ultima weapon, along with my friend who refused to fight having been left out multiple times.

They didn't realize, one of us was a healer. and as a result they got wiped multiple times against the ultima weapon, all because they refused to make a pre-made party.
Another sad thing here, is how in a previous dungeon, stone vigil, i had a conversation about how the cut scenes are often too long and too often in dungeons, and the response i got was the complete opposite, saying that its perfectly okay to enjoy the cut scenes ESPECIALLY in the last dungeon.

From this gesture of good will and respect to a the experience, to utter disrespect and disregard of immersion. good job.

on a side note, the healer who argued with me the entire time went on to say "if he doesn't heal, i wont heal" which i found hilarious, as he was only punishing his allies who were also responsible for leaving us out of the fight in the first place xD

If i knew how to report these players at the time, i most certainly would have. Their method of play was the definition of harassment, direct slanderous insults, and ultimately dismissal for a bogus reason. I'd say this is why final fantasy should stick to single or local co-op, but i actually really enjoy it as an mmo.

You can edit your post to have more than 1000 characters. In duty finder, people tend to not be as pleasant as you hope to be. Next time try and organize a party finder group for a first-timer run or pro-cutscene run.

Also you can report players by hitting ESC and clicking "Support Desk" there. Afterwards a window will pop-up and there will be a "Contact Us" button which will give you different categories you can report in.

your problem is that yo think youre right. your new to the endgame stuff, so let me tell you. unless otherwise posted, it will always be for the fastest possible win. if you want to watch cutscenes, great, make the PF yourself and include that you want a slow run, if not, join DF and get the speedrun everyone else is going to do there.

the same thing happened to me, and i was annoyed, but i had watched all of the cutscenes, immediately re-queued skipped them, and got to be in every fight. its not someone elses problem that youre new and dont know how everything normally goes.

ultimately, you startef it. you made the first comment, most likely about how disrespectful they were being. you went in blind and found out that the way it is normally done is different than you wanted it to be. thats no ones fault. in lv47(aurum vale) and lower dungeons, yeah its fine, because its not a full length movie like the first two lv 50 dungeons

I think that groups should wait for new players to watch the cutscenes. After all we are getting an extra 100 myths for them. It only seems fair. I remember wishing I could have watched them. It ruins the whole story to not watch. As far as using PF the quest itself says to use DF. It should be if you want a speed run use PF.



You're there for the myth then let the guys who are giving you extra watch the friggin cutscenes, lol.

the problem is i think i am right, ultimately i started it.

These two lines, firstly, the entire planet once thought the earth was flat, was they right? popular vote means nothing here. Secondly, Damn right i started it, i wasn't slanderous however, but being a writer myself, i really really dislike the fact they messed with the immersion, the momentum and the empathy of the story. they are important!, talktalk boast boast > fight > whimper.
It flows for a reason, why are their cut scenes in the middle of the dungeon, if they intended players to disrespect people enjoying them? This in turn, is insulting for the writers and designers who put the work in for players to enjoy, respect all kinds of gamers. or just don't play.

Like mag says, its a very good point, you get a great bonus for helping new players, so do the damn work and be patient! =p
