Depends on the earrings and the dude; coming from a dude who likes dudes (and if you ask women I'm sure several will agree) the right accessories can make a guy very sexy.

I'm also a dude into dudes, and I think certain earrings look really sexy on guys. I guess it's subjective, and an overall personal preference -shrug-

I agree, though personally I never watch others' characters that carefully to notice their jewelry, I definitely do notice my own.

We have a ton of freaky jewelry. (Mog ribbons for example) that I can do without having to look at.
A simple on/off toggle like the helmet and weapons one would be great.
Bisexual male here, and I think certain jewellery (like some members have already said) can be really nice on males :-)

Yes please give us an option to turn off the display for jewelry. Males can't use the new Yukatas as a glamour item without a weird neck choker always being displaced because jewelry is always displayed. Please SE, give us the option to turn off jewelry display.![]()

I think this was last brought up regarding getting invisible and/or taped up hand coverings so they could bare knuckle in fights but I'm pretty sure the devs said they had no plans to introduce invisible glamours then.
Plans are always subject to change, however (as they, themselves, have frequently stated), so don't give up!
I too am behind hideable items. So long as you can still examine someone to see what they're really wearing and they keep the no glamour rules where needed, I don't see what harm it could possibly do. It also shouldn't be any more server stressful than any other glamour (less so probably).
Just the other day I was running around on my little lala lady who has some nice silver hoop earrings built into her character. I put on some HQ brass coloured hoop earrings (she was on a low level class but I can't remember what they were) that I'd just made for her and the look of both hoops bugged me so much I ended up taking them off despite the stats they would have given. Obviously it's a much bigger issue at much higher levels but that was just the most recent time I've wanted invisible options.
The ability to go into battle looking like whatever you personally think would be cool for your character is a very personal thing and to some people it is very important.
While we may need the stats some piece or another offers, we shouldn't be forced to display it if there's no reason and if it goes against the ideals and concept of our characters.

Some of you seam to be under the misconception that I just want this for male characters. That's completely untrue. This actually most bothers me on my female alt, when I wear anything that leaves my wrists or neck bare then suddenly I'm forced to look at these clunky accessories. Now of course it's possible to glamour over them with something smaller but as someone already stated sometimes to get the outfit just right you want to have bare wrists and neck.

I dunno. I like the fact that our accessories actually show (depending on if your gear doesn't cover them up). Not many MMOs actually show things like rings, necklaces, and earrings on PCs even though they might allow for that equipment slot.
Though I will agree there should be an option to hide them, for those people who don't want them visible, just like there is for head gear and weapons.

I'm starting to think the devs should have a lot of sympathy for this request. If you look at a lot of promotional pictures characters aren't wearing jewelry. Or if you take a look around at NPCs you'll notice that a surprisingly large number of them aren't wearing any jewelry. Also, I was taking a look at the guild leaders in Ul'dah and noticed that only the weavers guild leader had on any jewelry, one ring.
Edit: After checking the other two cities I could only find a total of 3 that and any jewelry on and all of them only had one piece. It's quite obvious that the devs know that some outfits just plain look better when you don't have any accessories on.
