It seems that the wording found in the contest details on the Lodestone is a bit misleading and confusing, so I would like to clarify about the required image resolution and sizes.

Only one side of the screenshot image needs to be between 1280 and 1024 pixels, while the other one can still be under this (ex: 900 pixels). So, even with a maximum screen resolution of 1440 x 900, you will be able to enter with no issues.

Resolution-wise, you can take screenshots while playing in 1080p, but you will have to modify the image through cropping in order to submit your character with the proper image size.

Does that mean this is more about the total pixel number than the individual sides? Because as stated even in your reply, 1440x900 would not technically be in line with the rules and they would have to crop the shots same as a 1080p player.

One of the requirements of the Casting Call contest was that the images you send in must be at a minimum 1024w x 1024h to 1280w x 1280h but this is a problem for me because my computer monitor is 1440w x 900h.

I don't have options I can do because altering the resolution of my screen makes everything very 'fat' like it's been stretched in Photoshop and no alterations asides from cropping are allowed and cropping in white space to meet the minimum height requirement probably wouldn't go over very well...

Is there any way these requirements could be lowered so I could enter or am I just unable to enter the contest at all?

You could also just run the game in window mode for the screenshot and set the resolution as needed.

Take screeny of 1440 x 900, cut the borders to have 1280x900 and here you go.

I almost did the same. The first time I read the rules it listed .png as acceptable. That's what my screenshots were set to. I finally got a chance to take my screenshots this morning. Once I took them all then read the rules over one more time to make sure i had everything just right and noticed they changed the rules and removed .png. So i had to change it to .jpg and take them all again. I know it originally had .png, i went over those rules multiple times to make sure i didn't do anything wrong.

That's odd, I could have sworn the rules originally said that .png entries would be accepted, but now that I go back and look it's not there ...

NEVERMIND, they originally did and it was changed. Reddit has a text copy of the contest when it was announced.
