    Clarification needed: your example of 1440 x 900, neither number is between 1280 and 1024. 1440 as an individual number is still greater than 1280 and thus too large. Does that mean this is more about the total pixel number than the individual sides? Because as stated even in your reply, 1440x900 would not technically be in line with the rules and they would have to crop the shots same as a 1080p player.

    Take screeny of 1440 x 900, cut the borders to have 1280x900 and here you go.
