What I would of liked SE to do is let up build our own weapon from scratch instead of just relic.
Start at level 1
and build it up 1-110
With materia slots, let this be the grinding way and let it take a long time but people who would built it would have felt satisfaction out of it.
dismantle weapons, farm up items, dungeons for items, mining and fates and dungeons.
Just another path for a different weapon which could be the best weapon in game.

If you're talking about an alternative to the current relic system, I think that's a bit off-topic :xWhat I would of liked SE to do is let up build our own weapon from scratch instead of just relic.

Yeah, I was surprised that the recipe needed 3 primal demis; 1 is hard enough! AND the EX drop? :/ That's a lot of RNG to have to deal with. I will say I liked the crafted primal weapons before I saw the recipe. Now, I'm not really interested in leveling desynth anymore. :/
since you can get 3 demis out of 1 weapon its not a really big deal to obtain theseYeah, I was surprised that the recipe needed 3 primal demis; 1 is hard enough! the ex items dropped down to 50k before the ilvl 95 weapons came ig, now killing them is atleast worth a bit

That's good to know! I feared it would be limited to 1 from each item (it's what I'm seeing at the mid-level I'm at now) if I'm lucky.
I believe it's all just how SE is responding to the multitude of crafter complaints from 2.0. Since SE said they were never going to have crafted battle gear be equivalent to the highest ilvl current gear, this is how they are keeping crafting relevant. I think they may have strayed just a bit too far down the path with 2.3, however.
They already made it a decent challenge to HQ 3star recipes. Most people won't aspire to be able to do that all the time. But the amount of RNG that is involved with all of these steps is getting just a bit ridiculous now. I'm making real good money with Augmented stuff, but I have yet to gather everything needed for a vanity primal weapon. I also don't like purchasing mats so my profit margin is increased, but it will take me longer than most to actually get on the MB with any product.
This is actually only half the amount of RNG involved in getting a piece of waterproof cotton ;-;
I understand your point of view, and that many others feel this way, but you are wrong. I've made over 10 million gil (profit) since 2.3 because I do take the time to do this. There is definitely a market out there, there is just very little supply of people who actually want to go through what's needed to do it (at least on my server). Relevance is a subjective term anyway. We might not agree on how we define relevant.

Prime example of rediculous gated content so that people dont rush through it and everyone gets one.
Thus in turn making it so rediculous and rare that no one in their right minds will ever bother with it.
Well, people would have bothered with it, but it's an i95 weapon with sub-par stats that only due to penta-melding another 3 mil worth of materia on there (oh right, 7% success rate on the 5th meld, so might make that a tenfold more milions) will get any reasonable amount of use on it. And even then, one could run Syrcus Tower, get an UAT from there along with 1300 Soldiery for a far superior "free" weapon that barely takes any time.
SE doesnt want crafters to be relevant. It's that simple.

SE doesnt understand a lot of things, and pretty much every patch they put out shows it more and more. I cringe as every patch approaches now, rather than look forward to it.
I've never seen a crafting system that was this much of a clustermoogle in my life of playing MMO's.
They are so lucky they've got no real competition in the MMO market atm, other than the upcoming WoW expansion, and I bet when that hits, SE loses a lot of players who go back to WoW for an extended stay.
