If that is the case, then they should give refunds to those who lost the houses.

Now THAT I did say. And I've already moved on to greener pastures, although I am curious how long it will take SE to eventually realize that this was a poor decision on their part.
Right. You could have just given your opinion plainly and maturely, but instead you decided to use hyperbole and add something I didn't say to elicit attention. Seriously, just stop trolling.
In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
I think this is incredibly stupid. I'm taking a break from the game for a bit, but to say someone doesn't need something because they don't play regularly is just ignorant. If housing was free or rented I could see this but Gil was spent... I honestly feel it's kind of crooked.
Guess I'm never wasting money on housing crap... Don't want to be punished for getting bored of a game for a bit
If not one single person from a FC can get to their house for over a month, they don't need the house. That's called being greedy and entitled. Look around the forums, do you see how many small guilds can't get a house because all the small houses are taken? Very few of those FC's that want housing would be homeless if this was already in effect.
Anyone with any common sense will admit that a small, active FC who would use the land deserves it more than a small inactive FC who hasn't had a single member at their house in a month. Real life shit happens, and yes there will be some small FC's that lose their house for this, but it's a fantastic idea. This will also mean that the possibility for any ward to become a ghost town is much smaller.

Dude, the FC housing is for FC. If you planning to make a 1-man FC to get your own house for yourself, it is quite correct you lose it on your breaks, because FC housing is not intended for 1-man FCs.
I even want make things worse and add to house land purchase the requirement the FC must exists already for some time AND have a given number of members active in last week to be able purchase it.
If a full group of players, that is the FC, does not care to arse to their house in 35 days, they don't need it. Make it a reason and live with it.
To be fair, actually they need to delete all characters have not logged in for 35days,
all inactive FC and their properties will be deleted as well, character names will also release to new players.
This rule is clean and clear, also works with personal house , private chamber, orphan chocobo in stable ..etc
That is out of place, and have no reason.
Free housing space have a reason, to let other players use it. Someone not logging is not making you any harm. Then, it also makes impossible make your breaks if you want do them, or just haven't the bucks for a couple months. You aren't being fair, you are extending punishment over the reasoning limits.
O.O you actually are making that argument? To be fair, actually they need to delete all characters have not logged in for 35days,
all inactive FC and their properties will be deleted as well, character names will also release to new players.
This rule is clean and clear, also works with personal house , private chamber, orphan chocobo in stable ..etc
If no one in an FC has bothered to enter the FC house in over 35 days then it makes no sense for them to take up that space when another FC could build their house there. The same cannot be said about player characters, your character sitting there chilling in cyberspace has no impact on someone else making a character. Honestly a very horrible point to try and make for your cause.
