I really enjoy that what you make actually came from somewhere. When you shoot an arrow, you can literally think to your self. okay, i have this arrow that is basicly some carved blue coral that's razor sharp, and it's tied to a arrowwood arrowshaft that was made out of a branch of arrowwood, and some swan feathers or w.e made the fletching, and that's glued on by scale glue.

now THAT is some specific crafting lol. Like okay, well thank you to to fisher for getting those corals, thank you to the botanist for the shaft, etc. like i can literally see this arrow being made with these materials in real life

something i truly love can't wait to sign our gear!

Making features less convoluted = dumbing them down.

There is good complexity and then there is needless complexity.

Is crafting harder to understand and requires more intelligence when you need to hunt down 10 items instead of 5? An interesting mindset.

I will admit Violence makes a good point. With having Dark Matter for repairs you can keep your valuable crafting materials solely for crafting. With his post I'm less worried about the dark matter. Except maybe for market prices :P But I just hope they don't get rid of metal wire, which you make into rings and then chains for chainmail or leather into leather straps and the like. I don't want my crafting experience dumbed down is all.

I'm not worried about them consolidating the repair system to 5 items at max when I have serious inventory problems. NM gear for multiple classes, mage gear for a couple leves for my thm and conj, + 2 crafting classes around 30, it's already an inventory problem. Especially hermes shoes, asuran armgaurds, onion helm, these are items I'm not likely to get rid of but will still be on my retainer or my inventory if i need them.

Crafting is detailed? well yes crafting the first item and the mats needed are good...except when you need to get materials from monsters 20 ranks above the item you wanna craft (seriously whats up with that....) also the crafting system is BORING as hell. People shouldnt have to feel the need to turn on their tvs to watch a movie while mashing the action button to craft...

It's still better than the complete uninvolvement in crafting in games such as World of Warcraft where you just click a button and the game crafts the item in about 3 seconds.

I can live with the setup we have now if the crafting process itself is made more fun.

When we started it was a big deal that a level 40 monster dropped an item for a level 10 craft, because no one could fight that level 40 monster yet. Now lots of people can kill that monster and sell the item, which was the intention from the start we just had to get to that point.
I think what they need to address now is simply improving the enjoyment of the crafting process.

I personally don't mind the details in the crafting system. I do feel it is a bit too detailed, though. Like in the chainmail example, why do I need to go from ingot > wire > rings > chain > various parts > chainmail. I'd be happier to cut out the middle man and go from ingot > more chain > chainmail. It doesn't dumb down the process, only brings it down to an acceptable level of detail.

Something I feel needs to be simplified is the fact that depending on what type of shirt you want to make you have a different group of shirt parts. If Squenix wants to do a shirt front-back-sleeve combo, that's fine but it'd be nice if there were one front piece and one back piece per base material, not one for every type of shirt. Little things like that Squenix went overboard on needs to be corrected.
