    Honestly, this is the biggest issue about the game for me. I had to fork over $200 extra for a new card (GTX 460) just to play this game, and I STILL get FPS hiccups all over the towns! Only randomly will I get 60FPS.

    SE never makes any attempt to inform us that they even plan to do something about this. It would be very nice to just once hear what they have to say in regards to PC Optimization.

    Can we get a "dev response" here or something?

    That's becouse FFXI is old..and it's normal that they don't upgrade the game for newer processor and GPU...not good but normal...

    they said time ago that they were working on the "core engine" .. CC atm sux.. this is why why don't have ingame settings, and ALT+TAB in fullscreen.. (omg no alt+tab in the 2011 .... )

    Crystal Tools doesn't "suck" and XIII/Versus XIII kind of shows that. It's poorly optimized for MMORPGs however -- Also the whole "This is (year)" has to stop -- This is 2011, why do we still have wars? Why are our cars still breaking down? Why am I not living in a city in the clouds? Where's the consumer brand hovercars? According to Street Fighter 2010 we should have been a futuristic society last year.

    There's plenty of games in 2011 that still has problems with running 2 games alongside each other if they both utilize full screen, because DirectX can get touchy -- No Alt+tab is something they said that's being looked at.

    Quote, maybe i've wrote wrong (my english it's not so good ) .. CT on console looks good, cause the listed game haven't many character and spaces/town to calculate.. and they're "static" games.. They should LARGELY improve it for MMO (and pc architeture) ... Much more big cities, spaces, a tons more of character to calculate, real time combats ecc ecc

    Actually, no. FFXI's problem isn't because it's old, as WoW is nearly just as old and upgrading my PC makes WoW run smoother. FFXI's problem is that it was a crappy port for the PC and had horrible optimization.

    I don't just want gaming for this PC.

    Silly us, people who expect basic features which have been around for nearly a decade in MMOs to be common place in 2011. A fullscreen windowed mode (not that crap where you have to manually select the resolution), and a way to alt+tab without disconnecting are common place. This wonderful problem was solved years ago. Wars never ended, cars never stopped breaking down, we've never lived in cities in the clouds, and lolhovercars. Comparing ridiculous things that have never existed to something common place and expected is more akin to going to the store and asking why they STILL don't carry bread.

    That would probably be the ideal, but least likely, solution. Porting an entire game, especially an MMO, to a completely new engine is never an easy proposition, and would be extraordinarily time consuming. I would like to see something done about the bottlenecks and some DX11 features implemented, but if they're already focusing on the luminous engine for future I'm not as optimistic about how this will go. I do think they could benefit from optimizations to allow for PC ports of single player games like FFXIII, but who knows whether either of those things will happen.
