I don't think any of those guys would be hurt if it went that way though.
But alternatively, at least make it easier to change them around if we are going to have classes that go into two completely different jobs.

They should just make your stats bound to your soul crystal, problem solved.
umm, I play SMN and SCH (SMN main). With iLv79, full healer gear and 30 INT trying some LV 50 dungeon with pet micro management and group some pet skill with my GCD and even do some cleric stance dance. I found that the party can survive the dungeon I played with nearly full health when the dungeon end. Haven't try 8, 24 player content with that setup anyway.
This game's propensity for big burst damage that's nearly impossible to survive without cooldowns means people are almost never surviving by 50 hp. The majority of the time you survive handily or you're thousands of points too low. The reason those prompts don't exist is because this game's balance means those situations almost never actually happen. Healing is not analogous to DPS. It's less about maximizing numbers and more managing resources available (your mp vs party hp etc). You will absolutely not notice having 30 less mind.

Player error: almost always.
Bad timing: no such thing. This falls down to "not having the fight memorized" or suddenly-high DPS pushing phases in an unfamiliar way, which can be lumped under player error.
Bad luck: extremely rare;
-DPS using Meteor on all 4 spumes in Levi EX while double tidal roar comes out? That's player error, not bad luck.
-In Turn 9, got paralyzed while healing the tank? That's player error in Normal because thunderstruck is completely avoidable, but in Savage that can be bad luck.
-In Turn 8, Allagan Field person got hit by something big because you didn't mitigate it? That's player error; different tower order and getting mitigation up faster can make the difference.
There are extremely few examples of bad luck, the rest is player error.
