Although the Rank S maximum HP level was already intended for multiple parties, we have further raised the necessary number to require even more parties.
He also said they are looking at ways to change the elite marks without just increasing HP, and increasing daily/weekly rewards because how people are handling hunts now, those are just being ignored. The fact that they have made changes, and are currently working on more shows that the hunt system isn't going the way they intended it to.

I am sure there are a few hundred per server who don't like it, but how does that compare to the thousands who hunt in the zerg?

In all seriousness, think about it for a second: SE captures how many hunt marks you kill, its in the achievements. they can data mine their database and determine the population who hunts in zergs versus the non-zerg hunter. If you have 200+ kills, your most likely in a zerg.

This is a MMO, the first 'M' is for Massive, and the hunts are the first/only piece of content that is actually triple digit participation.

There are 3 people in my FC that join the sheep mob hunts, the rest of the FC doesn't like it, and out of those three that do, two of them admit they don't like it, it is just the easiest way to get gear at the moment. They feel they have to hunt to get gear, and have put off atma/animus/novus because of it, and they have both said they wish there was a cap on seals or that it was redesigned altogether. Not everyone that is in the sheep mob likes and wants to do it, some feel they have to in order to stay caught up and competitive gear wise.

in ffxi, they never intended for ninja to be a tank.

in ffxiv 1.x they never expected it to be so bad they would have to remake it.

Sometimes they need to accept how the players (aka paying customers) want the content, and it becomes a numbers game.

No, both aren't right. Hunts were not designed to have the number of players that actually fight them in mind for participation. It's obvious because of how quickly they die.

Hunts aren't broken. It seems people just expected more from them or are not playing them as intended. Just because the content isn't exactly what people want, doesn't mean it's broken.

The Hunt is just terrible, badly implemented and seriously ruining every other contents in the game that exists right now. Atrocious is the right word for it. The reward is good though and they should keep this. However they should put 1 minute invincibility, and 3 minutes severe damage reduction time so that the mobs will last at least a good 4 minutes instead of a mere seconds. Or just quadruple the current HP and add 50% damage reduction, this will make them at least unkillable for at least 2-3 minutes.

What they should add is various daily hunts that rewards 5-10 seals from dungeons (lower level to high levels), random FATE monsters. Just by doing that simple fix - it will put at least half the people that do want to hunt but can't to do other alternatives and get a good amount of seals. And at the same time, revitalizing a lot of the existing contents.

The Hunts won't change because at their heart there is nothing wrong with the Hunts - if played as intended. The biggest 'flaw' in the hunt is that the developers did not anticipate just how bananas people would get to exploit this system. And so the Devs did not program anything in the system to prevent the negative excess of human nature from making he system look broken. Once the horde have their gears and bugger off to do something else, the hunts will continue to function as designed and intended - minus the abuses caused by the less positive side of human nature - and actually be fun for solos, duos, light and full parties alike.

To some extent I feel that the question people ask is why did SE/Yoshi-P not anticipate this level of exploitation and implement restrictions to prevent it? Personally I think a better question would be why can't many players show sufficient maturity to turn away from cheap exploitation to the detriment of others?

You said the magic word, something I seem to notice more and more with some of the newer gamers. Exploit. Want a challenge but will exploit anything they can to get ahead. As for the blisting... I have yet to see anyone say theyre going to blist me because I refuse to reset a b rank I rolled onto. My advice, if I have the damn mark partially dead, don't ask or demand a reset. Don't stand there or try to reset it. Get your licks in for some credit atleast. For a 5 seal mob you're not missing much to throw a tantrum or blist people. Blist over marks... I lol at that. accomplishes nothing except maybe make the b-lister feel better? I am one of those casual players
