    Return of the Old-School Warrior

Heya. Just resubbed. Haven't played since JUST BEFORE the 2.1 patch, and at the time Warriors were a bit broken, not quite up to tanking Coil (etc) like Pallys were. I hear this has been addressed, and wondering if anyone out there recalls the major changes to my class and how it affect tanking.

I like to think I was good, but I assume jumping back in now will require escorting some low-lvl dungeons to get the hang of things again.

Also, I have the relic (not +1 I don't think), the mythic body and head...darklight everything else, if I recall correctly. Aside from trying coil again (nervous) what should I be doing? Crystal tower? (wasn't out when I played) Or HM dungeons?

Anyway, any advice would be greatly appreciated, by me AND those poor souls I'll be tanking for soon.

(Also, have no clue what Atma is, so if you're feeling REALLY generous I would love to know. Thanks in advance.)

    Welcome back!

I can't comment on the WAR side of tanking as I don't have him lvl'd yet but I can comment on some other things. Hope it helps. I say skip the lower duties. Do the High level roulette and the expert ones. They are not hard by any means. It will be a good way for you to get back into the swing of things and get a feel for what you are up against. A lot of DPS out there have gotten beefed up, this will get you a taste of that and how you will need to handle threat.

Next I'd say gear up. Run coils. They are super easy now. As a tank you can Q up in just a few moments and farm like crazy. Could even start a Party Finder group for that. If you don't wanna waste too much time in coil you could do CT as you can multi loot now or join a hunt group. You will get large amounts of Myth and soldiery in no time.

Get your Zenith weapon, it will help. If you do CT grab all the "..of light" armor you can(i80), if you farm coil(i90), GL on drops. If you plan on farming hunts, you can gear up quickly(i90), with both Myth and Allied seals. You only need i70 t get into the Syrcus Tower, which drops i100 gear, but more importantly it drops Unidentified Allagan Tomestone (UAT), and Oil of time. If you can stand it, save up the soldiery to get your Rowena Token (Soldiery) weapon >> Weathered Conquerer with the UAT and the tokens. I cannot comment if it is best weapon for you or not, but it is i100 and should help. If you went the route of doing hunts you might have enough seals saved up to get a sand, which is used to turn the weathered conquerer into it final form, i110 conquerer.

These are just some of the options available to you. I am sure more will come flowing in.

If you see me in game hit me up, I like to hunt and run stuff on my alts.

    GL

    The main changes were:

    1. Moving the increased healing received from the wrath stacks to Defiance and increasing the effect from 15% to 20%. This made it possible to actually use your WAR skills. I still find it hard to believe, that they thought putting the effect on your secondary resource was a good idea ...

    2. Reducing the healing of Inner Beast (100% instead of 300%), but adding a 6s 20% damage reduce. This makes Inner Beast your main damage reduce skill and a pretty strong one. You can (and should) use it for each major boss ability in certain encounters (T5, T6, Titan Ex for example).

    3. Adding a 30% damage reduce for 15s to Vengeance.

    4. Adding a 10% outgoing damage debuff to Storm's Path.

    5. Adding an enmity modifier to Steel Cyclone.

    In addition:
1.TP costs for both Storm's Eye and Path were also reduced to 60 instead of the 70 and 90 which makes WAR less TP starved than before.

    2. Overpower enmity generation was also increased.

    3. Holmgang: Range has been extended from 3y to 6y. Enemies will now be pulled toward the caster. While under the effect of Holmgang, the caster's HP cannot be reduced to lower than 1. Players can now change the direction they are facing.

    ^^^ That's about it.

Basically, the sucked all of the crazy-fun things out of WAR to make it a very very strong tank in this game.

No more 2-3k inner beasts and no-healer dungeons, but WAR is every bit as capable as a PLD in mitigation now.

Well, we still LOOK cool, anyway =) I'll probably ghost around as a dps for a bit and watch how tanks are doing it these days. Thanks again for the input!

do your main quest to open syrcus tower an get an unidentified allagan tombstone. that would be my first step then get hunts and you can get up your levels really fast. war is good, dunno thevchanges too well but its better than before. i usually mt do butchers block combo 2-3 times if im mt then depending on the party start cycling my other combos. ib and sc are good so pop em when theyre hot. honestly though for leveling id go hunts, catineaue flats and syrcus. main things are bloody mark logs, sands of time, oil of time, farm tomget those and youll get tomes as well

Hey welcome back. IL 102 Best in slot build.
I would not recommend running coil because as far as warrior is concerned it is kinda pointless. You will need to start running ST for oil and an UAT (un identified tomestone for your soldier weapon) At the moment you can farm soldiery for Chest, Ring, Choker, 110 Weapon (conqueror), Legs, Hands. All of the above are BIS for war and the rest you will fill in with the SCOB. Second coil of baha. Start hunting like mad and get them allied seals for your noct gear so you can upgrade it to 110.
