    Scholar and Summoner stat distribution

Has the dev commented on the system that forces Scholars and Summoners to share their stat distribution points? I've found it somewhat annoying having to farm 10k worth of Grand Company seals just to buy Keepers' Hymn to reset my stats to more efficiently play Scholar or Summoner.

Shouldn't stat distribution be based on Job, and not class? I feel like it makes more sense that way...

Yoshi mentioned in an interview that they even might change the whole job system. The shared attributes was one of the reasons. If they don't, Im quite sure they will fix this annoying flaw. We already have cleric stance, it comes close to what we want for SMN/SCH, so it's possible.

Just leave them all in INT. You won't notice the difference as a SCH for 95% of the content in the game. (physick will be ~50hp less and adlo will be ~40hp less)

It is slightly annoying that you can't keep them both at full potential but the 30 points don't make as big of a difference as some people think.

The only major reason to go 30 MND on SCH is for the DPS boost it brings (which not everyone seems to care about or have the aptitude for). The effect on healing is very minor.

It's that small of a difference? The reason I ask is b/c I was more maining scholar as my healer, but I've recently completed my whm Novus and not really in the mood to start another Novus right now. So I was thinking of making my main healer my whm, while making my main DPS my summoner, and I was thinking of changing my points from 15/15 to 20/10. But, you think if I went all intelligence, it wouldn't gimp my scholar?

It is that small of a difference. You can double check the math here http://valk.dancing-mad.com/calculat...ng-calculator/ Just put in your stats and remove 30 MND that is how I got the numbers. I tested it at various gear levels and it seemed to hold to the ~50/40 rule for any end game gear (used http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/ to get stats on gear sets).

If you want you can test it out yourself just do like 20 physicks before you switch to INT and then do 20 after and compare the numbers.

Popular opinion will recommend that you put the 30 points in INT, because it will help summoner more than it will hurt scholar.

I don't agree with this logic however. The problem is that the difference is masked. On DPS you can see the dip immediately. You're doing less damage and contributing less. So you do everything in your power to max it out: food, stats, materia, etc. On a healer HPS is meaningless, only survival, so you lack a proper metric to gauge your performance. There's no prompt to inform you "well that person wouldn't have died if you had healed him for another 50 on that adlo", or "your friend died because you let your food buff expire".

It's easy to rationalize these slips away as player error, or bad luck, or bad timing. However, many of these cases are salvageable if your stats are high enough. You'll run into instances where your party members get dropped to very low health, or you're chain casting to keep people afloat, or whatever, exactly how DPS can pass or fail a check, but it's much less obvious.

My recommendation is that you pick one job and stick with it. Yes you CAN do either job without the 30 points, but you can also probably do them without pants on. Why handicap yourself?

I keep all my points in MND both for the small boost to heals and for the added power in Cleric Stance to more efficiently faceroll dungeons and other content with low-to-moderate healing requirement. Also worth mentioning again that the fairies' healing is based off of the SCH's stats. I don't know at which point this caps out or if it does, but I've noticed a significant difference with changing equipment.

It would be nice to have the option of optimal stat allocation for both jobs at once, but personally I have distinct preference for SCH, so I like to maximize my potential there in the meantime.

Attribute points should just be removed honestly. They are pointless. Just give every job +30 to their main stat at level 50 and it'd be the exact same thing. That's what everyone does anyway.

    Not really.

PLD: 30 STR (MT, cleared Turn 9)
    WAR: 30 STR
    SCH: 30 VIT (pvp)
WHM: 20 VIT, 10 PIE (a guy in my 5-times-cleared Turn 9 static; to prove he doesn't need the MND)

Do the overwhelming majority just put it all in primary? Sure.
