Dungeons I like to go in not knowing anything, especially early on in patches. Primals and raids though, nope. No fun at all for me personally to go in blind, and I'd feel like a burden and just have zero enjoyment.

and I can't stand it when I'm asked to explain a primal ex fight or a raid :/ especially when someone demands a clear explanation. If someone is too lazy to look up something, they might as well expect me to be too lazy to explain that very same thing to them. So I just give a short summary and hope for the best.

In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

My party goes into new content "fresh" for like 1 wipe just to laugh on the first new mechanic wipe then we go online to learn the mechanic. This is not a single player game, MMOs are designed to have content that takes an unreasonable amount of time to discover the patterns of for the sake of prolonging content, so online guides are just a way around artifical roadblocks. If you aren't looking up the mechanics online, someone in your party is and relaying the info to you unless you're in Blue Gartr, so you aren't discovering the mechanics yourself anyways and should get off your high horse.

Depends on how many adventurers have been inside the content beforehand.
If it's snow pure, of course! Nothing like the first time.
One or two, sure, content is still probably good for raw exploration, I'll risk it.
Four and up, always make sure to use some sort of protection...in the form of video guides.

For four man content I generally try to run it blind with FC or LS people but if i'm relying on pugs i'll watch a vid first because alot of the people you meet in duty finder are not people you want to spend alot of time with I seem to struggle getting people to say hello nowadays.

For 8 man and above I always watch a vid some of those mechanics are not obvious and would take way too long to figure out blind, besides as a tank I feel kinda responsible I am meant to lead the way after all.

    What about you guys?
Id much prefer to go in blind and figure things out, you know, how one usually plays and beats game content. Unfortunately MMO's are the only genre where its noraml and even expected to 'cheat' using guides and what not. Its not even considered cheating with the players, they call it "learning" the fights, lol. If I were to read a guide on say The Last of Us, FFXIII or any other type of game id feel pretty stupid in the end. Not MMO's! Nope, and if you dont read/watch guides for MMO's... everyone else makes sure you feel "pretty stupid" for not cheating. And the worst part of all this is MMOs are just about the easiest @#^$ing games to play.

    ..... /sigh

    Depends.
When going with FC we usually try new fights without any info and read up as needed.

I, for my part, read up on new content when going with randoms.
For that purpose I prefer compact overviews of tactics/mechanics, to get an impression of what to expect, and figuring out the details and how to best handle situations during the fights.

Long tactic explanations and detailed information or videos are too much information at once.
Even watching a group beat, for example, Titan EX 100 times, won't get you anywhere when you first try it yourself.

You know what they say. "It's not a party until someone dies."

Without risk of death there would be no sense of achievement for your victory, and therefore no-fun. Wiping to new content is extremely enjoyable and part of any true game's experience.

^ So to answer the question: Yes, I enjoyed Titan rocking my world hundreds of times for each tier when it was fresh. Both in PUGs and with my static team. *It just made the final victory that much sweeter.

The first one or two times I enter a new fight(through DF) I always go in blind, adds to the excitement and joy of new content. If there's something I don't understand after a couple of tries, or I keep dying, I will ask advice or look up the fight. I'm usually pretty good at figuring out the mechanics on my own though.
