    Do ppl realize that the difference between 2.2 or even 2.0 and 2.3 is just a broken system SE released in a rush? the game had no direction then and it has no direction now, and never ever say hunts are a system created to please the old school players, because that's just a lie, the hunt is only appreciated for those who like convenience, of course most will use the false argument of working together...

    And one more thing, this first expansion was planned even before the launch, it will change nothing, we can only expect changes after the expansion.

    SE actually announced during the last live letter that they've already planned 4 years in advance...

    But again I'm not bothered I like the game, I like where it's going.

    I get the feeling you weren't there in the beta forums where people were begging for NMs because of FFXI nostalgia. And if I recall there was another thread on these forums sometime after launch asking for the same thing. There have been people asking for it. Don't pretend Hunts were just dropped on our laps out of the blue...even if I did wish the devs would have ignored those individuals.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.

    Asking for content is not the same as asking for the implementation that the devs chose to use when they went about adding it, or the reward system that came with it.

    There's a large difference between "Hey we need more open world content like NMs and such!" and "Hey you should make NMs invalidate 90% of endgame content!"

    please lets not sit here and pretend its even close to the same thing.

    People keep trying to push how Hunts ended up on the players asking for content to do, as if the developers weren't being paid specifically to deliver content that works

    I was and i asked for NMs, but instead they made another faceroll content that is bad balanced in every way, so no, this is not what ppl wanted. This horrendous system we have now is the result of a bad implementation, and it's really far from what ppl wanted.

    There are still some things left we had in BETA who are not implemented yet... I guess low priority.

    A lot of good points and concerns brought up in this thread. Though, many of which I've already read in some form or another on these forums.

    A few things that resonate with me are, of course, the gear-treadmills, rehashing of old content and spoon-feeding it back to us as "new," dismally low RNG on some things here and there, their tendency to over-complicate and put restrictions on things like vanity, PvP, (and both together!), etc. and just be generally disconnected from what sorts of things appeal to their playerbase; from the Letter from the Producer about hunts:

    Players who don't have quite as much time on their hands, however, can use the Hunt board to slowly build up Allied Seals at their own pace.
    So... 7 seals per day to build up to vanity starting at 500 seals a piece? Yeah, that's more appealing than the alternative where I can arrive somewhat late to an A rank and get almost double that. Please look forward to it.

    I mean, they have a tendency to hype seemingly small things up (read: dyeable AF, new furniture, and feeding your chocobo its favorite food) only for us to find out that it's locked behind something tedious task or at the mercy of a low RNG. I mean, it's pretty bad when I genuinely laughed when someone made a joking comment in the "Dye your Chocobo" thread that to dye your chocobo you'll need 5-star craft items and a low-drop rate item from the extra chest in Syrcus Tower... "Next Relic weapon Upgrade: Glazenuts and Broombrush. Not in a FC currently growing those? Working as intended."

    My last and possibly biggest gripe though is how we're getting a lot of low-man content or content for 1 party when it goes without saying that there is an interest for content for multiple parties like Crystal Tower. I mean, they brought up programming problems or what-have-you as an excuse to say why we aren't having server-side alliances yet; but then one comment during the E3 Live Letter really sort of irked me. It was that question as to when we can expect larger-scale content that something like an FC could participate in together. The question was sort of misconstrued from its original form (I should know, I more or less asked it) to sound like "content for large/ max-size FCs" and the answer was along the lines of "there are small FCs that could not participate in these sort of things, so we aren't thinking about making them."

    Okay, so we won't see content outside of Crystal Tower (once server-side alliance building is ready) for larger-scale content because there's small FCs? If you say so devs.

    Was it one of those "I want NMs in the game" posts without any thought of what it would do to the game? I saw a ton of those, would roll my eyes at them then tried to futilely explain why it's a bad idea in a theme park MMO.

    I wouldn't have the issue I have with hunts and NMs if they were a true side activity. Neat titles, vanity gear, vanity pets and so on. Continuously adding stuff to hunt rewards as the game aged. That would actually work while giving people something to do outside of gear progression. Sadly, no one asked for that, and the threads on beta as well as here instead insisted that NMs be an alternate progression route (which necesitated oils and sands entering the picture); in some cases they never specified how they think NMs should have been implemented.
