    Soon I'll post a fully fleshed-out idea I have but for now...

    Think like this, every mob (bosses & raid bosses incl.) have a chance to drop their card. Cards are all tradable.

    Cards Spiritbond from use, slower rate for higher grades. Once Spiritbonded, they can be converted into an item from the creature's loot table. Certain ones can even merit unique drops (e.g. Minions). Spiritbond % is reset upon trading or sale.

    How much value would this add to the game. If like Tetra Master, the cards could slowly grow in power at certain SB intervals (up to a maximum).

    I'm worried Triple Triad will ultimately end up a flop if it's not different than FFIX's Card Game somehow... the RNG will kill any pvp potential it could have.

    I have a funny feeling that all of the Golden Saucer games will be based on RNG and nothing else. IMO it's probably better to expect it and accept it then be utterly disappointed when non-RNG systems never happen.

    There are plenty that aren't... it's not the type you draw from a deck at random, you have a predetermined set of cards. It's pure skill which determines the winner in FF8's card game.

    Which I just realized I confused Triple Triad (ff8) with Tetra Master (ff9) in my previous post. Tetra Master is the RNG-disaster card game, it's fun from a solo vantage but broken in many ways.

    Triple Triad is fun but had some wonky rules & not nearly the depth of Tetra Master, ultimately.

    I'm very tired of RNG whining threads, RNG is par of life and an essential part of gaming, in small amounts of course, if you remove RNG from a game you have boring rotations, no room for improvisation and little strategy, and this doesn't apply to card games only...

    "RNG whining threads," please don't come in here again if all you're going to do is flame.

    I didn't say I wanted no RNG, I said it shouldn't be "based in it".

    In other words, RNG shouldn't ruin game balance--it shouldn't be the determining factor.

    Tetra Master is a great example of bad RNG because the greatest card in the game could still roll a loss against the weakest, practically negating any skilled play.

    It utterly killed any competitive value the game could've had in a multiplayer setting.

    Lack of RNG would not remove strategy in the least... but it does help keep a sense of unknown and people's hopes of the lack of grind while allowing devs to (sort of) hide their determination to slow us down (I say sort of because some grinds are blatantly obvious because of low % RNG, while others are inconsequential or acceptable). Its not required at all to make mechanics work though, knowing the average attempts to acquire an item you could recreate the rarity that RNG provides with percentages without ever having a random element. I think that is why I like to push a progressive % (/RNG) which would be more exciting, imo,- things are not known, but hope is never lost as each time of loss is a moment of growth.

    A well made card game will have elements of randomness due to shuffling, but is so well balanced that only extreme cases of luck have "made" the match. OP is wanting to have RNG not be the deciding factor of the game but rather skill, good play. Sounds good to me, I gave OP like- RNG being a deciding factor of the entire fate is annoying.. specially when it is perceptually evident (drop rate is 10%, runs trial 82 times.. still hasn't received item. Or the more hilarious gathering chance is 92% fails 5 times in a row. --- /fuuuuuu)
