Lost Carbuncle in Mor Dhona

Ruby can also appear behind one of the counters probably looking for food. Aside from the top of the wagon and there, there're no other places Ruby will appear

He/she can also appear on the roof over the Chocobo stable and in a few other places.

Well, assuming you've finished the current story missions, then you should know who and why those people are everywhere.
I don't even think they appear until you've gotten to that point in the story.

I have seen this only once so far. I was mining in North Thanalan and all of a sudden some old guy in the standard retainer gear showed up and started mining. I was like "Wtf?", because I didn't know you could actually see retainers that were gatherers.

I love how SE does these littles things everywhere. Seems like the world is more alive. I was so impressed when I first went to mor dhona in the early days of 2.0 and then a patch came and mor dhona changed, I really liked that.

I guess you never noticed Ruby's owner either. There is a blonde Miqote dressed in white attire that walks the streets of Rev Toll searching for her Carbuncle...
She calls out to it from time to time. =)

The one in N.Thanalan is a Roegadyn that tells you 'this spot is taken' iirc. There's one who appears just west of Camp Dragonhead who says the place is picked clean. I've seen a combat spear retainer in the Wolf's Den who shops for gear, then teleports at the MB. I'm sure I've missed a few more here and there but yeah, it's awesome.
