They DID IT! <3
But right now, at this very instant, while playing inside a dungeon, it's obsolete so say that they failed BRD, because you cannot do anything about that as you're playing. It's not really "our opinion of how BRD should be played", and of course it matters. If there is casting going on in your group, should you need the game system to tell you "look, there is a BLM/SMN and the healer is also DPSing, I'm going to highlight your Foe's Requiem, use it now"? By reading your skills, you should be able to deduce that much yourself, the game can't hold your hand for everything. Using Foe's when there is casting is not a matter of opinion, as it factually increases the damage done by casting.
BRDs have one of the easiest rotations in the game next to BLM. Knowing what song to use in what situation, as well as knowing how to manage them IS the challenge of playing a BRD. It's a lot easier to say "the devs messed up on this job" than learning how to tackle that challenge, like all good BRDs have done.
Will people try to tell you how you could play better/worse/more efficiently? Yeah, that will always happen. Sometimes they're right and bring up valid points, and sometimes they're plain wrong and blame you for their lack of MP/TP management, but like any other class, it's your job to read the advice and judge if it's good or bad. The learning experience never ends.

foe requiem boost SMN/SCH dmg too.“Foe Requiem” should only be needed if you have a Black Mage in your party or when the White Mage goes full DPS on the enemy. I believe that the Summoner and Scholar DoT’s and the DPS of the other classes don’t deal Elemental damage, so “Foe Requiem” would be a waste of MP (at least that’s what everyone has been telling me).
Yeah... Pretty much - 20% DPS isn't worth a Paeon or a Ballad most of the time.
I find most of these people don't utilize their Invigorates properly (or, they don't have Invigorate at all...)
If I'm around 350 DPS, which a bard at 106 should be, these songs cut 60+ DPS off of my rotation.
That can mean an enrage timer or not - Not managing your MP or TP correctly is as much a problem of others not playing their class correctly, not always on bards. There is a time and place for songs and "everywhere, every time" isn't the answer.

Heh, I never ran into this problem with my Bard though ive had people ask for one before(very rarely). Honestly I never thought of Bard songs to be very useful to begin with. They help, I guess, but its hardly enough to keep up with healer spamming or even my own rotation.
Granted, I use them in emergencies, but at my own discretion. Meaning I decide what song goes up from my own analysis of the situation. That is of course, unless im in a raid, but thats why they have a thing called "raid leader." Regardless if someone wants to bitch let them bitch, its their higher blood pressure. If they ALL ask me not to play any and just DPS, sure, their loss after all. Unless my own TP is low in which case its going up whether they like it or not.
Oh and the DPS chart police can suck it... if bosses are dying then their opinions on my, or another players performance are about as important as the turds my dogs leaves on my neighbors yard.
The tooltip of Foe Requiem states the following:
“Reduces all enemy elemental resistance by 10%. MP is drained while singing. Effect is lost if targets move out of hearing distance, and ends upon reuse. Cannot be used with other songs.”
The DoT skills of the Summoner & Scholar are referred to as “unaspected” skills, which would mean that they are not Elemental attacks. The Egi’s on the other hand do use Elemental based attacks, so if the people who told me that Foe Requiem doesn’t work with Summoners, they’d either forgot about the Egi’s, or they were wrong.
But, after you said that it does work with a Summoner and Scholar, i did a quick search of my own. Then i came across this Reddit article:
For those curious, we just tested, Foe Requiem boosts unaspected summoner spells, not just elemental attacks
If that’s the case, then the Tooltip of Foe Requiem is wrong and needs to be adjusted.
For now, i’ll consider myself as corrected and will try it out myself when i have the time. Thanks! (^_^ )/
What? When did they do that? Ok, I most definitely stand corrected then. (^_^; )

Credit goes to Niqo'te for her fabulous art in the "Nique's happy fun time!"-thread and Nix/Capa for the Caitlyn drawing to the right. \(^_^ )/
Give her your support by liking their art!
Awww this thread is cute. Look all those likes, the bards are coming out as hordes from the game lolol.
Really? Bard is the most popular job on probably every server, the other thread was needed so all the people that don't play it how it's intended would get the gist of it ;D
If you felt victimized by that other thread, I think you might be that very bard they are talking about?![]()
They did, and quite a while ago if i may add. Tooltip reads:
"Reduces all enemy magic resistance by 10%. MP is drained while singing. Effect is lost if targets move out of hearing distance, and ends upon reuse. Cannot be used with other songs."
