Not a total waste since you'll want Physick after you get BLM anyway (Can't cross-class Cure anymore), but yeah welcome to me back in beta. "What? Seriously? ARC stands for Archer?"

Do people forget that there is more than one class in the came that starts with "arc"? While Arcanist is a long word with a lot more letters to draw on for its 3, Archer is rather limited. If ARC couldn't be used for Archer, what would they use? ACE? I have no idea...
With a little practice and exposure, you guys will get used to it, just like we got used to PUG being Pick Up Group (ie. DF) not Pugilist which is PGL, and GLD being Gladiator but not Goldsmith which is GSM (people confused those acronyms a lot). Yes, confusing at first, but we learnt and so will you guys ^_^
And 15 levels in ACN is a good thing! Great skills come out of that and it may eventually lead you to either SMN or SCH, both being great jobs ^_^
You crossclass stuff from arcanist so its not a wasteI admittedly confused the two tons early in game and still absentmindedly write ARC for arcanist but oh well xD
Getting one class to Lv15 takes like what? 1-2 hrs? Both Archer and Arcanist are cross class skills. You're going to need both to Lv34 eventually. It's not like BLM gets anything meaningful at Lv30.

"Alot" is not a word. Allot is but it's unlikely to be what you want, try "A lot".
Uh okay, I was coming more from the PoV of someone who just started leveling a caster or just started the game, not someone who is used to end game caster stuff...
I mean the quest that requires THM 30 and ARC 15 is not going to be done by someone who raids with BLM.
I'm sure many would have said something similar if PUG was the abbreviation of PGL and someone suggested a change.
Yeah it's not hard to get used to it, it's just a minor issue that could use another review, mainly for new peeps. With a little practice and exposure, you guys will get used to it, just like we got used to PUG being Pick Up Group (ie. Yup, it's a good thing those 15 levels wont go to waste, still there's no harm in trying to make it less confusing![]()
You're going to have to level more things a lot more than that to get the full use of your black mage....then I found out it's ARCHER (the physical DPS kind) and not ARCANIST (the magical DPS kind). So now I'm sitting here utterly baffled as to how the hell Square Enix and the developers processed this. I don't want to say I wasted a good chunk of time leveling Arcanist because it was fun, but WHAT KIND OF LOGIC WAS SQUARE ENIX USING?
YOSHI PLEASE GET SOME SLEEP.
I need some serious therapy now. Anyone care to amuse me for a thread?
What's funny is I made the Exact. Same. Mistake.
It's not that I didn't read the description, but you have to admit... Arcanist starts with the same three letters as Archer and the mage makes far more sense as a second class for a caster. Having Archer as a requirement is about as nonsensical as skyfishing.
It would probably make a least a jot of sense if there were some skills which you could take from Archer, but aside from Raging Strikes, and perhaps Quelling Strikes if you're especially nuke-happy, it doesn't have much to offer. Seriously, does anyone even need Hawk Eye? I've never missed enough to even consider it.
On the other hand, from Arcanist we have Physick, Virus, and Eye for an Eye. So three useful skills compared to two from Archer. Go figure.
