The Halatali HM has life and is vibrant, but the original is dead and looks forsaken. Is the demon in the end of Halatali HM also the same old demon in Halatali?

It's been awhile since I did the opening quest for Halatali HM, but I'm fairly certain that they explain to you that after you cleared out all the demons and sprites that plagued the area... The Blades went in and reestablished the dungeon as a training ground.
the Hard Mode version of Halatali is set after the normal mode. Ul'dah was able to come back in there and get things working after we had gone in and cleaned up stuff. To thank us for the work they set up an exhibition match and train us in the way of gladitorial combat. I think this mentioned when you get the quest. As to the last boss of Halatali NM that was a a type of Ogre. the HM is a different mob type I guess Manticore would be the right word. Its a spruced up version of the FFXI mob.
Okay then. that's what I'll do. I'll tell you a story. Can you hear them? All these people who lived in terror of you and your judgement. All these people who's ancestors devoted themselves to you, sacrificed themselves to you. Can you hear them singing?
You're looking for some past action it seems. Currently no content takes us to the past unless you're redoing something you've already won.
At the end of Halatali (Lv. 20), the boss was an ogre; ogres have been heavily implied to be Voidsent. At the end of Halatali (Lv. 50), the boss is a Manticore. Not much, if any, lore exists on manticores right now, but in FFXI, denizens of that world believed they were demons raised from the underworld by the Shadow Lord until they figured out they were just very scary, strange, natural beasts. Until we're told otherwise, I'm guessing Manticores are probably a Beastkin to carry on that tradition.

Off the top of my head I recall all the Hard Modes being follow ups to the Normal Mode of the dungeon.
The Manticore was under the control of a Thaumaturge. Considering how heavily the void is dealt with in that particular questline, I wouldn't doubt it is a void sent that is at least on a short leash by the one who is controlling it.At the end of Halatali (Lv. 20), the boss was an ogre; ogres have been heavily implied to be Voidsent. If you read the quest and talk to the NPCs, it's explained what's happened to Halatali HM.
Apparently nobody reads quest text anymore![]()
Considering it's a gladiator fight, and beast can be tamed, it wouldn't be too surprising if it wasn't bound to a spell but trained to fight along the Thumaturge.
