I don't care either way. I'm leaning more toward not allowing them, but I can see why people would like to see them in the cities. However, SE needs to figure out the right way to do it. No speaking to NPCs while on a chocobo, no entering buildings, and noone is able to check your bazaar while you're on your chocobo.

What I do have a problem with however is that it could be incredibly distracting/in the way. If I'm in the city trying to craft and someone lands their chocobo right over me and makes it so I can't see my crafting sphere anymore, that would be insanely annoying. Yes, I could always move, but it's something I shouldn't have to worry about while inside the city. Those are my only reservations about it though.

Insulting people in the counter argument isn't going to change their minds. It will make them stick harder to their opinion regardless of whether or not it's right, and think less of your opinion simply because you insulted them. In essence, if you want to try and change someone's mind, come up with a well thought-out response and don't be a dick.

Well first you cried about collision detection, now you cry about no collision detection and get stood on by a chocobo.

Show me ONE post about me crying about collision detection and I will call you a God. I don't stand for every person who cried about it so don't rope me in with everyone else unless you have proof of such.

If I took that the wrong way, then excuse me.

On topic: Sure, if they could add Collision Detection back into the game, great, it stops a chocobo from messing up my craft. If they did that, I wouldn't mind chocobo in the city because as I said, it is my only reservation from such a system other than crowding and lag, both of which have already been stated before me.

I was using 'you' as a collective noun for the general FFXIV forum-whiner, the ones who ushered in such memorable changes like enormous mobs and zero mob behaviour. Don't take it personally, kid.

    I meant no offence.

Oh, and dare I mention another game around here, but for your guys' information ArcheAge and TERA both have collision detection and I dont see why FFXIV decided to remove it. It's a next-gen feature. Im sure it took the programmers a long time to implement, and I suggest they re-implement it, only this time make it 100% collision detection so that you can-not stand ON someone nor IN someone.

This would be a welcome relief when fighting large mobs (or should I say ENLARGEd mobs) like toads which are so often engulfing players who fight them.

It would also prevent a chocobo from standing on you in cities.

I'm not taking anything personally, I just took it the way it was perceived so I defended myself. That'll happen during text conversations. I realized that it could have been used as a collective noun instead which is why I edited my post saying "excuse me" if you didn't mean anything.

Now, as you were saying, I get that a bunch of people bitched about collision. I, myself, like having collision. Walking through people simply doesn't give me any immersion like Collision does...unfortunately I think I saw one of the dev posts mentioning they have no intention of bringing it back. I can't for the life of me find it, though.

If there are ever SMALL pets of some kind, I'd like those to be allowed in the city limits... But mounts within the city?? No thanks! The place looks crowded enough as it is. People running around the vendor market on bulky mounts would be crazy!

With the exception of one or two (such as skeletons), I vastly prefer the mob size increase.

In fact I think that's one of the subtle changes that for some reason made me continue playing this game up until now because before it was ridiculous. Half the creatures didn't feel like a threat at all and I could hardly see some of the enemies.

Not only do the enlarged enemies look better but they're obviously present and they actually seem like a threat.

I get the impression you haven't even played another FF game before because you've repeatedly complained about many posters using the excuse "Final Fantasy"-like. Hey, guess what, it's true. Last time I checked, this game is an FF game, being an MMO second. There's a few FF games that have deviated from the core elements of the franchise, where did those end up? Oh yeah, terrible ratings and terrible sales. Funny, XIV is in that category.

So, since the franchise has been raped so much with so many ridiculous deviations, and since this game is in trouble, it would only make sense to incorporate certain elements and maintain a core feel from the previous FF games. Not other MMOs. Wow, you might even get some non-MMO FF players to join the game. Wouldn't that be something? There's only several million of them.

Large fantasy-esque and sometimes outrageous enemies tend to be an element present throughout the FF series.

Take your scorn for the people who make such arguments and shove it up your backside.

In what manor would chocobos help or hinder the imerssion within cities?
in my opinion a mounts main purpose is not immersion but for transportation to get from point A to point B quicker than walking.
you guys are right though, i guess the cities arent that large, limsa and gridania just arent as convenient to traverse versus Uldah so thats what came into mind.
either way i dont think its that large of a deal. if we cant oh well, im just personally used to video games giving you more ways to travel than what weve seen in FFXI. alot of games give you things like racial "run faster for 6 seconds every 2 minutes" and things like that (which did not apply to your mount, youd have to get off it first to use your racial)

and so you know, i dont dissagree with mounts contributing to immersion. i feel things like their physical aesthetic, how you get them, and their direct correlation to the story are how they contribute to immersion.
now that i think about it, my internet isnt half bad but it gets terrible lag even though our population doesnt compete with any other MMO. i can see having 40 chocobos in town causing my PC to bog up even more....
