I agree with many others in this thread, having something like campaign would be a great addition.
Something to do while you are waiting for a group to form or something to just do while you have alittle time to play by yourself.

Sadly that post of mine could pretty much work in every thread about this game. Everyone seems to have some group of people they think is out to ruin their gaming experience. Apparently just using XI as a basis for comparison means you're trying to lobby for XIV to become XI-2. Wacky mmo players...
Oh look, it's another "Hate everyone who likes anything from FFXI" post. Awesome. Like it or not, Campaign was exceedingly successful. Also, FFXI is a good reference point to use because 1) Most people here have played it (at least a good portion of us) and 2) This game DOES relate to it in ways. I don't want FFXI-2 either, just as much as any person doesn't. If I wanted to play FFXI, I'd still be playing it, but I'm not. However, I did play that game for 6-7 years, so I'm able to use examples from it better than other games I have played.
Now, they obviously shouldn't call it Campaign, because that would obviously be very bland and unoriginal if they did. However, they NEED something like that in this game to go along with the war that is supposedly about to start. I don't know about you, but in this war, I want massive large-scale battles, not "oh look, 3 Garlean Soldiers, let us go and attack them for XPs plz".

Insulting people in the counter argument isn't going to change their minds. It will make them stick harder to their opinion regardless of whether or not it's right, and think less of your opinion simply because you insulted them. In essence, if you want to try and change someone's mind, come up with a well thought-out response and don't be a dick.
I want something along the lines of Besieged.
took the words right out of my mouth, now wheres the conquest tally.Campaign.
A la FFXI Wings of the Goddess.
I'd like to see something like the Hunts from FF12.
Thanks for not reading anything I wrote. I never said they don't NEED anything like Campaign, I said it shouldn't be copy/pasted from campaign as the OP and others seem to imply.Oh look, it's another "Hate everyone who likes anything from FFXI" post. Godspeed to you good sir.

I don't think people necessarily want FFXIV = FFXI. But there are a lot of systems in place from FFXI that are fun, and can be adapted to fit FFXIV.
Like people want campaign. What if the FFXIV version was like this:
the Garlean Empire is making advances upon the city-states borders. Airships stealthy deploy troops on outlaying hamlets, with such short warning it's up to you and fellow adventures to take up arms against this forward recon squad.
They way it plays out:
an Airship (visible to players) flies over head making it's way to an out laying hamlet. this is your first warning of the coming attack. once the airship reaches the designated hamlet troops spawn (in waves) and a call for help goes out over the grand company LS. Players battle against the Garlean troops holding back wave after wave, to finally face down the company leader (NM) Players are rewarded on damage done, taken, healed, and support efforts. Bonus for holding back the advance.
It's FFXI campaign with a FFXIV twist.
To further add a bit of depth to it. Different enemy factions can attack. Maybe it's the Garlean Empire. Maybe it's the beastmen. Or Pirates invading the coastal cities.... Or moogles that are just fed up staying in hiding all the time.
When people say they want campaign I think they want the battle to come to them. Not seek out the battle.

Also need some nyzul in here somewhere <3
Retired FFXI character: Ranok of Sylph
I think SE should take the Campaign concept in this game but also modify it to the offensive! We should have to defend our Hamlets/camps, but also form parties, and alliances and take over their camps! Maybe even set up a temperary Atherite for special Company missions and events once we do overrun their camp! So much possibility and content available if they do it right!
