There is a lot of outrage and support over the new repair news, but most of the support stems from the fact that there's more room for inventory and most of the outrage stems from the fact that it's just generic and overall a bad idea, taking out immersion and making crafters seem less efficient in general.
I think a better idea would be a complete overhaul to the inventory system in general, not the repair system. Have different tabs for different things. There was a post I believe a long time ago that said there will be changes to the dye system, where dye will be separate from your inventory and will stack differently. Crystals are similar, having their own tab and stacking up to 9,999.
Why not separate everything? Especially things like repair materials. Make repair materials different from crafting mats and have them separate from your main inventory. Be able to collect up to 999 or so of said materials and view them from a different tab, so you can repair without any compromise of your inventory.
This solves both problems. You get the untidy people who do not know how to manage their inventory properly happy that they have room and things are organized better for them, and you have the people who like the way the current repair system is set up to some extent happy that they still have individual repair mats.
While I feel the developers intended that this would be a well-received change, this just completely defeats the purpose of the repair system in general. Either go back to the way it was before, come up with a new idea, or get rid of the repair system. A superglue for all items is just a really poor idea, and does not in any way represent the "high quality" aspect the developers seem to want this game to achieve.
Come on devs we have faith in you to come up with some better ideas than this.
