Private rooms and being kicked from an FC

I'm guessing this was an issue that was discovered at the last minute, and something that they'll rush to provide a solution too as soon as possible, in the next hotfix most likely.

This being an issue they "discovered" at the "last minute" is such a failure of process that I can't even imagine what kind of discussions they actually have about this stuff. Within half a SECOND of the notes being posted the FIRST things the players said was whoa... wait a minute, we can't kick a member that buys a room? WTF se????

I wouldn't be too sure about that, especially if the FC has members under 18. Leadership not being able to handle abusive members because of SE policies could absolutely be grounds for a lawsuit. It might be harder to push through in America, but I can see Europe slapping them with some hefty fines and regulations, not to mention all the negative press they would get over it. I mean, they REALLY didn't think this one through at all.

This is an important question, and it would be nice to know that FC masters can still kick abusive players who have invested in a room in the FC house...



Square-Enix wouldn't be able to spin it that way without being at risk for being sued if someone had a member of their FC who was being abusive towards other members of the FC and that FC member couldn't be kicked because of this new policy and the GM's weren't being cooperative.

Highly doubt you can be sued for something happening in an MMO. You don't actually own anything and the only thing you are really paying for is the privileged to log into their server. You technically didn't *lose* anything since it's all virtual stuff owned by SE. I don't get where people think that they have any power or right when it is concerning their characters, it's been like this since the beginning with MMOs (and other type of thing). Otherwise banning characters would open every company to be sued.

Not sure why people keep asking this question. In the 2.3 patch notes, it says:

* As of patch 2.3, free company members who have purchased private chambers cannot be discharged from the free company. This will be addressed in a future update, so as private chambers will be vacated automatically upon discharging.

This question was asked well before the patch notes that addressed this issue were available, and I responded in post #60 that they mentioned it in the patch notes

Any ideas what I need to do to get my items returned. My FC decided to disband and with it all my room items are gone. Is there any way I can get these back or are they gone for good? That's so not right

What will happen if we kick someone off our FC and they have private chambers?

This gives us two potential scenarios:

1) Since the private rooms are non-refundable, a rogue officer or FC master can steal hard earned money and crafted furniture

2) If you can't leave an FC without removing your room, can you no longer be kicked? Is there is an avenue for removing people you no longer want in your FC?

It would be nice to get clarification on what will actually happen in this situation and what measures are in place to prevent abuse.

I also wonder what provisions will be in place if an FC decides to abandon their plot to move to a larger plot, will private rooms transfer? will you only be able to abandon a plot if nobody has private rooms, and if you can't boot someone with a private room, will you be forever locked to a small estate when the FC wants to move to a medium/large?

I would say No to both of these.

1. I believe no one can steal anything because if you were kicked and your room destroyed, ypur things will end up at an npc, even your chocobo. So you go there and pick them up before time expires. I believe it have a timer where you can no longer retrieve them like when houses are demolished.

2. A Guildmaster or a leader with proper rights can now kick you from the FC even if you own a room or you have a chocobo because they can demolish them too.

My old FC leader went rouge and kicked everyone out of the FC. I had a room and lost the 300k Gil to purchase it and various one use event items that are destroyed when removed from the house. My other furniture (read as "the cheap sh-") was given to one of the npcs in the housing area to collect.

I contacted the GMs about my permanently destroyed event items and was basically told "You put your trust in the FC leader, we won't do anything, deal with it" well, not in those words but you get the point. I was then told to make a post on the suggestion forum about making event items non destructible which obviously led nowhere. Basically I was left in the dust and had to pick myself up. They can kick you, you get no notice and loose most of your furniture...yeay :|
