Wedding service in FFXIV

Weddings already? what like FFXI? did Xi have weddings so early on into the game? I would love to see wedding coming someday but I rather they concentrate on whats "important" about for the game.

I could only read of your posts what others had quoted.
The thing is you were arguing about real world same-sex marriage using real world examples, while this thread is about a different world and it's marriage laws.

In Hydaelyn there doesn't seem to be any type of understanding of what "gay, bi, etc" is. In fact, it seems as far as I can tell that the people in this world just fall in love/flirt with whoever they wish without repercussions.
(Granted, all we have seen of Hydaelyn has been Eorzea. It's possible Eorzea/Aldenard is the "liberal" part of the planet.)

Physical sex isn't even a big thing in this world. You can do anything you wish regardless of what you were born as(stats my be different, but not between the sex's), and with the gift of being able to choose your PC's sex, transgendered individuals can play as what feels right for them without negative stigma from the game itself. I have yet to hear anything homophobic or transphobic from the game itself, the world is very polite. As for the gaming community, that is another monster all together.

Game wise, there isn't a reason to deny it. Community wise, there are plenty of reasons (perhaps not very good ones, but reasons none the less) of why it shouldn't be in the game.
I just find it rather depressing that even in a game world people won't allow it to happen.

I brought real world arguments into this because it seemed like everyone else was with mentioning religion, moral beliefs, and laws. All in all, it's stupid that this discussion is even happening. It's fiction. So what if there are couples in a game who are the same gender bragging that they're married? And I honestly don't even see that happening. Why brag a wedding? All you need is the ring and that's that. Not sure why bragging was even brought up in earlier posts.

Though in XI it's for opposite sex partners only and it pretty much sux. I'd hate to see them pull a bigoted move like that again, especially since XIV is full of sexual references everywhere, straight or gay, and some of them are quite racy may I add >_> I'd rather have no marriage at all than witnessing this all over again.

It screws over the whole community as people roleplaying an opposite sex of their real life one get cut out too. What about all the straight guys trapped in Miqo'te bodies?

FFXI did not promote same sex marriage either.

To many people marriage is a man and a woman, however when you throw in same sex marriage (which is not a normal household idea in most cases) people start to think so therefore when opposite sex marriage was introduced to FFXI there where not a lot of complaints (Because nobody bought the game just to marry a freaking fictional character) and THIS is why it did not crash but now your bringing in something irregular to the mass population of the world and you will see problems. Instead of asking for all of these problems by introducing either opposite marriage only or both opposite and same sex marriage howabout just leave it out? Its a terrible concept anyway, instead you all want to be so stubborn and selfish by asking for such a dumbass feature you do not care about other peoples real life feelings on the topic.

This is not FFXI and never will be. The sooner people realize this, the better.

Unfortunatly, this thread has shown that the playerbase as a whole simply isn't mature enough to handle marriage, so it's unlikely we'll see it implemented.

Shared living spaces would be awesome But if they do residential areas like in FFXI where you can have other players enter then you can pretend to share a house and have 2 homes!
