RNG has nothing to do with it being difficult. For 4 days I did nothing but brayflox in game. Just for the minion. After that my fc did brayflox with me at least 3 times a day, usually more, for a month.
One night they were busy with other games. I planned on just doing roulette and logging off. Got bray. Minion dropped to someone else. The other 2 members congratulated the person, and s/he said "why are you congratulating me? O_o" They said why, and their reply was "oh I had no idea. This was my first time running it. Sweet. XD"
If minions should be untradeable so people have to work hard for them, then they should also drop to people who had put in the most time in the dungeon. Which is too much trouble for the devs to do for just a minion.
If it's all in the name of working hard for it.
I bought mine in the end, with friends pitching in to help. No regrets.

Well, that's just the way it is with luck. Some people like the gamble, but you have to accept that no matter how many times you run brayflox you may never win the minion.
You gave it a good chance trying to win the drop, and nobody can blame you for buying it in the end. You earned it and I hope you enjoy itMaybe someday you'll get another when you least expect and get your money back!

it's been a while so here's a bump
Nothing wrong this rare minion.
If you really want it, buy it.

I think you're confusing "hard" with "rare". People aren't saying it should have a low drop rate because it's hard to get. They are saying it should have a low drop rate to maintain rarity. It's a fabricated sense of superiority. I got the same kind of responses when I asked for the Bluebird rate to be raised back in December. People seem to think that something needing to be done hundreds of times makes it "hard" and that it being "hard" makes it worth getting.
I think it's the opposite. If anything should have such a low drop rate it should be a vanity item that you can (alternatively) choose to buy instead. Tying this low drop rate to gear... just look at all the complaints about ATMA, or gear in newer dungeons having a low drop rate. Could you imagine if you actually NEEDED that gear for progression? Imagine if instead of Darklight/Myth/Soldiery being available for tomes you had to farm dungeons with an even lower drop rate? Heck, look at the rage people have over Leviathan weapons and mirrors.
Then you look back and realise that it's so dumb for a vanity item to have such an appalling drop rate and that the thrill of acquisition doesn't make up for it in the slightest.
Bottom line? Save rare drop rates for end game gear please. We have RNG screwing us over enough in this game.
I think it's ridiculous that a rare vanity item is what drives people up the wall, especially when you could just buy it xD. Leveling a crafter or spiritbonding materia for gil is a lot more fun than running Bray 100+ times.
YUP! Have a friend it dropped to on her first run after the baby opo came out. . .i have been trying for ever! and finally just bought it for 800k. my gils are diminished!. still trying for the nut kin but can't buy it as it sells for 4mil on balmung. Sweet. XD"
Does it drop on undersized runs?
