FFXIV single-player prequel trilogy?

I bet it's a prequel trilogy to FFXIII... because SE seems to think we love the hell out of FFXIII and want nothing more than to play dozens more games that take place in that boring world with those boring characters, because they don't have a single clue what marketing research is, as evidenced by them being completely unprepared for how many people bought FFXIV when it first came out. They do what they think people want without ever looking out the window to see if it actually is what people want.

Because whether you like it or not the games did extremely well, XIII in itself was a best seller next to FFVII. XIII-2 didn't do AS well but extremely well and XIII-3 did well but not amazingly. So you may not like it, but plenty do just like many dislike FFVII yet they still pump out VII based games simply because it was many people's first FF game and first RPG.

If we're talking prequel, it would be more likely for it to be a story featuring the Circle of Knowing, the discovery of whatshername and the events that fill in the gaps between the flashbacks we've seen during the main story and what we see in ARR. Who knows, the fangirls would probably love the idea of playing as Thancred or something.

Hmmmmm how cool would it be to play a prequel that involved Nael Van Darnus and the others as party members you control, and you get to see their stories from their perspectives until they meet and then that becomes your group. Perhaps the game could come to an end around the time Nael was present after the first fight with Ifrit?

With a FF14 restaurant open I wouldn't be too surprised if they atleast make a game for 3ds or mobile. Don't think this game needs a prequal trilogy..... then again if you include 1.0, arr and then a prequal then FF14 can be considered a trilogy.

I'd love for it to take place when garlemald 1st invaded eorzea15 to 20 yrs ago.

Hmm...the Suikoden III approach would be fitting. A 4-chapter story to start (Thanred, Y'shtola, Papalymo, Yda) leading of them coming together. Could end with a fight against Gaius (the CS where he still had the Darth Vader voice) or as you've said, leacding to the events with Nael after the fight with Ifrit.

If something is somewhat popular a café will pop up somewhere in Tokyo (preferably Akihabara or Ikebukuro). Some are temporary, others are more long term.

um... wings of the goddess? which explains why that is not possible at all with that sham put together ending and realization through the story what "our" vanadiel really is ;x
