Dance like you mean it !
Most people don't care about immersion or art, they just care about getting their 1337 gear and drops.
This is why we get artless game-systems.
No.Repairing things takes time, and it should be that way.
I want to kill stuff, not time.
I'm hoping the npc cost of these items are relatively expensive (may 8-10k for grade 5) and that they're easy to obtain by other means. (gathered by miners, crafted by alchemists) Id rather the player base control the price than the npcs
I like! for the most part you will only be repairing rank 20+ since you can get to rank 20 in like 2 hours.
Save the Earth. It's the only planet with video games.
Much prefer the proposed new system to what we currently have...
yeah right. that's the npc repair cost of those items. i repair all of my own gear now and even while carrying all the materials i have no inventory problems. sorry i know how to organize and regulate myself. too bad most people can't do this as proven by the need for this type of move.

My quick 2 cents..
I'm totally torn on the new repair system changes.
I like how I only have to carry a set of 5 mats with me at all times, making my complaint about inventory space less valid. However, even with this system, INVENTORY SPACE IS STILL A PROBLEM. I'm having inventory space problems and I don't even carry many repair items with me.
I like a new item being added. Hey, new is new.
But I liked the original repair system. It was realistic. Ease of getting the repair item was appropriate in most cases (except for Jade Horas LOL), and it was a way for impatient people like myself to contribute to crafters by offering way too much for repairs because I didn't want to wait around for the repair.
And finally, they better add recipes for old repair items like cloth fent and leather spetches, or I'll seriously be super pissed. I have several stacks of these types of items... If all that work and mats ends up being nothing but vendor trash I'll blow a fuse.

A better reason for having a repair system is so that crafts don't become useless once the game becomes flooded with finished items that are no longer profitable to create and sell. You might not make money by crafting swords anymore, but you can at least fix them.See here's the problem:
It was never 100% designed for people to be self sufficient in this regard, it was designed that it pushed people to seek out/make friends/etc with DoH folks. However given the highly anti-social nature of this game it was a given that people made things harder than it needed to be.
But as far as the new system, it's good on inventory space, bad on a few markets. The drop rates for Dark Matter will probably be pretty standard, at least enough to match the current supply rate of repair materials. In this case the price wouldn't change. And yeah, stuff like spetches and fents will die out, but all that does is cut out the middle man of having to craft the repair mats (especially considering you buy/gather mats to make them anyways, you will still have to buy/gather dark matter).
What will take a big hit, tho, is the shard market. Sure, ores and wood will take hits but the gatherer will just shift their profiting focus to dark matter, so there's no loss there. But shards, since nobody will have to craft repair materials anymore, will probably fall in price.
