Duty Finder and Troublesome Players, Part 2

So I recently hit lv50 on my paladin and was psyched to put on all the gear I had saved up for him, pumping him up to item level 60. While doing Hard dungeon roulette today, I ran into a White Mage and a Summoner who seemed to be grouped together in Duty Finder. They had the wrong perceptions about the chests in the Lost City of Amdapor. They thought that every chest could be a mimic, and therefore didn't want to open any of them. Unfortunately, since I was on the PS3, it takes a bit to type out messages, and they ended up passing a kick on someone after a non-mimic chest was opened.

Since this was directly before the Decaying Gourmand, I was waiting for a new dps since I knew the fight was impossible with only 1 dps and my weak weapon. The Scholar pulled the boss anyway while I was trying to type that we needed a second dps. At which point I just walked out of the area and let them both die since they obviously did not know the mechanics of the fight. They then proceeded to kick me because they died on a boss that they pulled and said I don't know anything just because my Paladin isn't well geared.

It's no skin off my bones if I get kicked in a dungeon, but I feel bad for the other dps who was wrongfully kicked simply because he had been able to speak first before I could respond on the PS3, especially over something as stupid as opening a treasure chest.

last night, while leveling my archer, i ran into a tank who didnt evenwant to to tank. he didnt have tomohawk, didnt want to get it either, didnt use overpower, or any skill to hold hate. when we tried helping him, he told us he really didnt care and was only leveling marauder for cross-class skills.

you wont get away from those kinds of people when using DF, the only thing you can do is hope that you can finish the dungeon before anything happens. while i played pally on my alt, there was an arcansit who intentionally attacked everything i wasnt. you might think it was a mistake, but when you keep casting ruin, and switch targets at half health when the tank starts hitting the same enemy, and start using ruin on a different monster, its a pretty hard mistake to make. they were just trying to make it that much harder for me just because they could.

as for the typing, i believe you can use keyboards with it. i am not certain, as i only got the keyboard after getting my ps4.

I'll admit I'm not familiar with speedrunning tactics or tanking, but I had this run in Totorak recently where the tank (in mostly lvl 25 tops grey gear with some HQ lvl 18 accessories) would attempt to make a pull, then proceed onto the next group of mobs, not only without telling anyone or marking anything, but without actually ensuring he took hate from the mobs he was trying to pull, resulting in me and the other DPS unwillingly dragging the other mobs with us as we tried to keep up with the tank. While everyone remained quiet through the whole thing, I can't imagine how frustrated our healer must have been. Then again, maybe Eos IS that overpowered in these dungeons. We finished without wiping somehow, that much I can say.

I am not sure if this is what you were referring but when I am on my SMN or even BLM I will apply dots and or use AOEs to the imitate group of mobs around the tank after he/she has agro to speed things up. I will, of course, change tactics if it looks like the tank needs a mobs focused off though. So I can see why some arcanists might think that will help. Though if they were goign out of there way to pull more and more mobs into the group the tank is already dealing with, that is another matter.

i had marked at the beginning, and im not talking about dots, those i appreciate because it makes the fight go faster and i dont use as much TP. this arcanist was using ruin, the basic attack spell, on them. when i noticed the health dropping on one of them that i wasnt targeting, i switched so that i could build a little extra hate before moving back to the main target. as soon as i switched, ruin was being used on a different monster. this was someone attacking, not using dots, a different monster than i was, on purpose.

when i run BLM, i use aoes as well, they were pulling mobs off of me after the initial pull, on purpose

while speedrunning, you dont do any damage or healing until the tank build aggro when he stops. until then, you just follow. the only time its useful, is when someone can use aoes, and the tank should let everyone know what is happening if they try that

Could it maybe have been a WHM and a SMN? Lost City would only have one healer in the party.

Eh, the people that got kicked got to re-queue immediately. The other two get to sit there in the dungeon waiting.

I'd say you got the better end of the deal and they got what they deserved.

Please get a cheap USB keyboard. Communication is important and it is extremely frustrating to be unable to communicate with someone who doesn't have a keyboard.

As a tank, I dont mind dots being applied to the other mobs since dots alone wont pull more aggro then im actively holding for the healers sake. But it absolutely frosts my balls to see dps attacking a mob i either havent marked yet ( i always at the very least mark the first mob)or attack 2 or 3 instead of 1. We mark mobs for a reason. Stick to the marks and focus mobs down so we take less hits. Its not rocket science.

I dont mind AOE's either as long as the dps are being mindful of the tp and mp we are burning to hold hate, especially in the higher level dungeons. As a warrior i often wish we had access to the Drg skill that gives 400tp.

I'm able to type pretty fast on the PS3 keyboard, the problem is that most players can't wait 20-30 seconds for an answer and instead expect the speed that a 200+ words per minute typist can put out.
