Dying Race Specific Gear

In the video for the Lightning Returns Miqo'te costume, the player can dye the skirt. This led me to think "wouldn't it be neat if we could dye our own race's clothes?"

The race specific gear is some of the most unique in the game. For a lot of them they're the only piece of equipment in that style. Look at the female Hyur thigh boots for a good example. They're the only boots in the game that are tight to the shape of the lower leg. All other boots have that chunky feel about them, which in most desired glamour sets is quite unappealing. The problem is we're stuck with brown!

I ask that in a future patch we are either given the ability to dye our race gear or craft new dyeable versions of the gear that we can use in our glamour sets. I can't imagine it would be too hard to implement.

To add further to this request, I'd like to quote Ambie Lapin's idea for other races being able to use any race's equipment:

I'd like to be able to dye gear, but also be able to wear race-specific gear from other races. I'm not crazy about the female Elezen outfit (though parts of it are nice). I'd love to wear the poofy Lalafel bloomers or the Highlander skirt/boots.

It's spelled dyeing btw. :P Maybe they'll allow that when the vanity system is in place. Who knows....

they need to do the same for af gear as well i want my dragoon armor to be hunter green.

Going to bump this, as I would really like to see this added. The race gear is some of the more unique looking gear and it'd be great to dye it so we could use it in our glamour sets better. Failing that, how about craftable race specific gears, like the Taffeta and Light Steel items, that can be dyed?

I completely agree with the dying concept.

For the amount of time they put into the racial gear on launch this would give people more of an incentive to use it (especially with the 2.2 Glamour system).

Luckily for me the Hyuran Male Boots/Gloves are black which are quite neutral, but as you've already posted some are brown which makes it harder to use for most outfits.




It'd be a simple enough procedure (albeit a time consuming one), hopefully they'll consider it in the future.

I received the response of "Future gear sets will be dyable with this consideration", but more importantly they mentioned that going back and editing previous items was a very very low priority for them (sadly).

I could see problems with the cross-race dressing, they'd have to remake the models etc. But dyeing them should be a no-brainer.

If they ever do. I'm hoping it wont be a grind just to dye that as well.
