I don't foresee any of this changing in the future. Even if I'm a fairly busy person IRL, I'm fine with the way the game is. My friends and I work together to get everything done. For example a lot of us are Builders and/or Providers of the Realm but most of us focus on different crafts/gathering. My raid group comes to me for crafted food and fish they need for crafting. In return they do things for me. 99% of the furniture in my room was crafted for free by one of the members in my raid group, etc.

I'd get bored between coil raids and PvP matches if my friends didn't keep me amused. Doesn't really feel like there's much to do when you work with a team.

I understand what OP is getting at. For example, I was away all last week in another state attending my sister's wedding. The fact that I had a lot of difficulty coordinating with my regular coil group, getting my ST weekly drop, and meeting my soldiery cap, was enough for me to realize just how heavily we all rely on lockouts. Plus, I brought my laptop with me. Not everyone has that option. I wouldn't say I'm addicted to gaming, but I do play a lot, and losing my weekly cap on soldiery was definitely something I 'felt'. It's so silly. If you were free to gather as much soldiery as you wanted as often as you wanted, then I wouldn't have thought about it... The players that play nonstop DO need a cap, though, or they'll be geared to the teeth during the first week of a patch.

But, it's the MMO model to "keep people playing" by giving them a LOT of daily and weekly things to keep them occupied. Their mission is to make sure you STAY subscribed, even during that lull period when we are waiting for new content to be released and our old content has been played out. Don't forget that people requested daily and weekly quests... they wanted them. And, I don't think you'll find another MMO that doesn't have a heavy reliance on these things. So if you quit over this, you probably should avoid MMOs altogether.

It's because you're trying to rationalize your answer as the end all be all and it isn't because people play this game for many reasons but one only hopes they mainly play it because it's fun. When you remove that from the equation then you have CT answers why people are playing. So not really child's play maybe ignorance why you think people should care?

Because people like to socialize with friends and may like the game but enjoy their friends company more that's one of many reasons why someone might play.

Ps. CT is just one big cluster fk these days.

I already quit once back in January because I was tired of the myth grind. Started up again to see what the PS4 version was like and now it's a Soldiery grind. With hunts, it's a seals grind, but I'm not spending time on hunts right now. The WORST thing SE has done grind wise has been the Zodiarc weapon quest and I have no idea why I'm doing it. I'm currently on the Novus phase, and it just irritates me the way the whole thing's implemented. Far too much time was spent on gathering atma and unless you spend hours grinding myth, it will take you at least two and a half months to get the Alexandrite because you're only allowed one quest per day. What makes it worse is that starting from A Relic Reborn, every weapon quest is the exact same for each job. Even the level 45 AF gear quests are the exact same.

I miss FFXI a lot because at least with that game, everything you did was genuinely interesting, unique and rewarding. I had to WORK for my THF AF gear. I don't feel that sense of accomplishment with this game. Literally, all you need to do is log on, play for x amount of hours and it's handed to you.

That's why i said it's "pleasant", it's a good place to hang with friends, and that's why i'm still playing, but i would like to have fun doing content as well.

PS: sorry i don't get it, i'm not english native.

I just had to suspend my account subscription simply because of money issues but also because due to the fact I really need to focus on real life for a while now. I took a break from the game (but never unsubscribed) a few months ago and I managed to somewhat catch up, but recently I'm just getting further and further behind as I'm without a solid group to do content with, and it is getting a little tiring to keep playing catch up. The only thing I feel really behind on is the weapon progression. I know that when I eventually go back to it I'll be even further behind, but hopefully it will be at a point when I can put the time in. Right now, I don't have that time, so going to take some time out to sort my life out, spend some time in the real world before I next go back to it.

I agree with your post, however I don't mind the grind content, in fact I like it, but recently it has had a negative affect on me, so I'm realising it's my time to just take two, and come back to it at a later date. A lot of people do get sucked into the weekly lockout culture, though. I know I did. I was putting "capping" over other things in life, which wasn't good. But that's the kind of game it is, and it is really up to the players to moderate their own time. Much like I am learning now.
