So, last night I was having the exact same problem on PS4 with the cannons, and -- I swear on my Holy attack -- that I was doing exactly what Repoe described above. Stand up to cannon and hit X to bring up pet hotbar (like magitek -- which has always worked fine for me). Hold R2 + hit Circle, move ground targeting ring until it's red & on some mobs, hit X to launch attack (also like magitek). And then....nothing. It seemed like I could use the stun attack ok (when it wasn't on cooldown, obviously), but the Circle attack just was.not.firing. So unbelievably frustrating.

Am I missing something that's different about this attack vs. the magitek and other ground targeting rings, like shadowflare or BLM LB (which I use without issue)? Is it working, but is there just no discernible animation? I tried slowing down my spamming speed to make sure I wasn't trying to do it to quickly...and then tried to speed it up to see if that would help instead, and I still couldn't get it to work.

Is there a chance it's a bug? Or am I just being dense as a Giruveganaus?

Another player in my group was having the exact same problem, and even with our teammates checking to make sure we were doing it right, it still wasn't firing for either of us throughout 2 wipes. I felt so bad for my poor group!!
