I feel you, Doki. Our group is having the same experience, particularly on T7. We've begun to address the issue by holding dps at the first phase change until we get a voice, and killing the final add right after a voice goes out.

But you're right. We all understand that these are timing issues. And because the boss's abilities are based on HP, and the abilities affect the timing of the fight we need to adjust our timing by adjusting how fast we are bringing down it's HP. Everyone who is clearing coils understands this.

But its still stupid. And it still punishes you for gearing up and having higher dps.

    Punishment lol.

You guys really should know the fights well enough by now to be able to adapt to minor inconveniences and that's all these problems are, having to stop DPS for 5 seconds and wait for cursed voice is not a punishment.

Forget about that step by step guide you studied so arduously all those months ago and adapt, end of the day you should be clearing these turns a lot quicker than when they were first released.

The fact that there are solutions to the dps timing issue does not excuse the fact that the fights are poorly designed. Well, fight, really, since I only have a problem with T7. T6 and T8 are trivial to deal with (don't bother with super slug, aldo+SS field and heal through defensive reactions, respectively).

However, for T7, Melusine's AI is programmed poorly and that's not an opinion, it's a fact. The primary mechanic of the fight is petrifying renauds and hiding behind them to block shriek. That's the entire point of the fight and you absolutely have to engage with that mechanic in order to complete it. Given that, why doesn't Melusine's AI prioritize those attacks above all else? A phase change resets her ability rotation instead of having voice/shriek on a global timer that ALWAYS happens every X seconds. If Melusine would stop whatever she's doing to cast voice/shriek, this simple change would fix all the problems with the fight. As it stands, high dps causes voice/shriek to desync from renaud spawns in strange ways.

We never get to 3bar LB either and because we have high DPS, killing super slug with 2LB + our high DPS is usually good enough.
Also if your DPS is really high you might just be able to use the burn method and ignore slugs all together.

The easy solution seems to be "let your summoner take a breather and have him only focus on kiting instead of DPSing" :P

Sounds like a case similar to what happened to Pharos Sirius first boss before it was nerfed.
Instead of properly following mechanics, push dps since you were overgeared anyway... Resulted in many unnecessary wipes because people refused to stick to mechanics.

IMO, the fights are designed for one intended way of handling it, people instead find ways that they feel is easier, then get "punished" later on.

Just adjust your strategies. It should help you a lot if you also intend to enter the Savage version.

IMO it just adds more challenges, which is never a bad thing. Good players should be able to adjust accordingly with some practice. However, I do agree standing around twiddling your thumbs is a bit of a bore, find some way to make it work and make the fight more fun. Add a game of tag to the mix, play around with dance moves in your rotation, anything to turn the negatives into positives ^.^

For as long as I've played Final Fantasy games, and RPGs in general, one of the funnest aspects has always been over-leveling and over-gearing your characters and then utterly destroying everything in the game. While I understand the need for balance in an MMO, I do think past accomplishments should continue to make redoing content easier over time!
one word for you, adapt. you know the mechanics, shouldn't be hard to figure out to deal with different situations

Have you beaten second coil to just say "adapt"? Did you spend weeks learning the fights only to have to figure out a new strategy because you got better gear? Do you even hear yourself when you defend this? "Adapt, aka learn a new way to do the fight because you obtained better items." Are you serious people? How does that make sense to you? After spending weeks in fights to learn them then need to rethink your strategy AGAIN because you do better as a player is absolute bullshit.

Same thing happens in T5 with Echo now. Conflags and Fireballs can go out of wack resulting in someone getting trapped as Twin goes up for divebombs. Also, usually no LB3 for snakes. Just LB2.

Ugh, even with the nerf it's possible for people to fail hard at this guy. I always make sure to stress killing adds ASAP beforehand.

The mechanics are intended to work a certain way and the monster should adjust to you the players, not having us sitting around with our dicks in our hand because we play well.
