Graphics cards, teleporting, and the hunt.

Currently there is a memory leak issue with AMD cards and FFXIV. Basically, when frequently teleporting to high population areas, the game will stutter to 1-5 FPS, and then usually crash to desktop. So far the majority of people experiencing this issue have AMD 7800 series cards or higher.

My question is, if you are running a medium to higher end rig, and never experience crashing related to teleporting and population size, what card are you using? Cause I'm about to buy it, lol.

Yes, I am aware that GPU isn't always the cause of crashing, but in this case, it is.

    nVidia GTX 780 Ti here.
An OC model, but downclocked to reference due to random hard crashes without any kind of dump file, not connected to GPU load or temperature (burntest/benchmarks could run for hours without problems). DX/Driver race condition suspected for this one.
Zero problems since I downclocked it.

Used to run on GTX 680, never had a problem then either.

    Edit:
Should note that the crashes I had when card was OCed was not related to hunt at all as it happened in residential area.

http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...ighlight=hunts Many threads on this already. I've posted my specs on several of them. If we could keep all our posts to one thread, maybe it would seem like a larger issue to them idk. I think this issue likely has always been around, its just now noticeable, because 90% of players are now all jumping from one place in the world to another, instead of facerolling roulettes. The best thing you can do, is to turn the GFX settings all the way down, and disable all the special options. You can even go as far as disabling name plates. I've always had my plates turned off, expect for party members. That is a work around until they address this, or AMD addresses it.

I believe the OP is asking for who is NOT affected by it.

Although I didn't put this in my original post, this issue has been happening since beta. And you're right, since the hunts have cause an onslaught of teleporting and high pop areas, the issues are more prevalent now. However, Nekodar was right. I'm specifically looking for the people who have no issues teleporting in and out of high pop areas. Because, frankly, since this HAS been going on since beta and more or less has not been properly addressed, I'm not holding my breath for either company to issue a fix. Even though this game was specifically marketed as optimized for AMD cards, it clearly was not.

So being fortunate enough to do so, I'm just gonna by pass any work arounds and buy a new card. So I wanna know what users are using cards that never have these issues.

Ironically, Nekodar, I was originally going to buy the 780 Ti. I switched to the 7970 after SE announced that this game would be optimized for AMD. Fool me once, shame on me...

Also currently using a GTX 680, and haven't had a problem.

I don't know what the deal is with residential areas. Even on the PS4 it seem they really like to tax system resources. Every time I'm in a residential area all the fans spin up like crazy.

hmm strange, back when I was using my 7970, had no performance issues or crashes, using a nvidia 780 now, but thats for difference reasons such as cuda rendering.

Had the game maxed out entirely on my 7970, so unsure whats going on there.

I have an old 560Ti with a i4770K, haven't crashed on hunts at all even during peak times.

Only awkward problem recently is when I close the game, sometime it hangs on a black screen and I have to force terminate it.

You can turn the Character and Object Quantity down to see if it helps.

    It's under System -> Other.

I've not done too many tests with it but it does not seem to affect the render priority at all with hunts.
